Three riding modes and 250 W power

The ENGWE P1 offers 3 riding modes: fully electric, assisted (PAS), and the traditional “pedal” mode. The 250 W electric motor lets you reach a speed of 25 km/h and it can handle even mild inclines. The motor is housed in the rear wheel hub. The front telescopic fork and 20-inch tires ensure a comfortable, stable ride even on uneven surfaces.

Made for comfortable city riding

With a 36 V and 13 Ah battery, the e-bike can travel up to 80-100 kilometers in electric assistance mode – depending on conditions, which is ideal for longer city routes. If you need to transport it, thanks to its low weight and compact size, you can easily fit it into your car trunk. In folded form with the pedals folded, it’s only 95 cm long, 85 cm high, and 45 cm wide. Its weight tops out at 25 kilograms.

Shimano Tourney’s 7-speed derailleur is an entry-level option, but on flat roads and in city terrain it’s enough. If the battery runs out, you can remove it from the frame and charge it separately. The bike also features splash protection IPX4.

Brake light, fenders, and a front fork

The ENGWE P1 offers a range of practical extras for city riding. In addition to the front light, it also has a rear light, which also works as a brake light, improving safety in traffic. The brightness should be good even during the day. The front and rear fenders will protect you from dirt and water. The front shock absorber absorbs bumps for a more comfortable ride.

Rims with six-spoke design are fitted with rubber tires suitable for universal use, with an exact size of 20 × 2.30 inches (58-406) and the tire pressure recommended by the manufacturer is between 2.1-2.7 bar. If you don’t like the “standard” tires, you can swap them, because this is a commonly available size.

A durable foldable frame with adjustable handlebars

The brand name is clearly visible in black letters on both sides of the M-size frame. It comes in black, silver, or white, while the manufacturer logo is also shown on the front frame tube.

The seat height can be adjusted with a quick-release clamp from 74 to 90 centimeters, and the padded memory-foam seat itself is quite comfortable even on longer rides. The handlebar height, with a 65 cm width, can be adjusted within 108 to 118 centimeters from the ground, so you can tailor the bike to almost everyone (according to the manufacturer’s recommendation, the P1 is suggested for riders with a height of 150-190 centimeters).

A clear LED display with an app

The ENGWE P1 comes with an LED display that provides all the essential information, such as speed, battery status, and total distance traveled. The bike also offers Bluetooth connectivity to a mobile app, where you can monitor and adjust various parameters.

On the handlebars, you have everything you’ll need

As for the handlebar controls, left-to-right they’re arranged like this: in front of the left rubber-covered grip, you’ll find the brake lever that controls the front disc brake and a mechanical bell. Moving to the right, you’ll reach the aforementioned YL81C-type backlit display, which is visible even in direct sunlight. However, only if the lights aren’t turned on, because then the display’s backlight brightness drops.

On the center display, you can see your current speed. Below it, you can read the level of the set assist (PAS) from 1 to 5 (the higher the value, the stronger the assistance). One level lower, you can display the total/current distance traveled or the maximum/average speed, while in the top-left corner there’s a five-segment battery indicator.

Finally, a small icon on the right lets you know when the lighting is on. At the top of the display there’s the power button, and at the bottom you’ll find +/- buttons to adjust the assist power. This layout may not suit everyone, though—based on available reviews it’s the opposite of what’s customary, and the buttons are also far from the grip, so changing the level of help isn’t as comfortable as it could be. On the right side of the handlebar you’ll find a lever for controlling the rear derailleur and a brake lever for the rear brake.
