Honor Turbo 5G officially: a massive 8 560 mAh battery, IP69K, and a weight of just 196 grams

While most manufacturers focus on how to squeeze an even thinner camera into a phone, Honor went the opposite direction. The new Honor Turbo 5G builds on a single number you’ll remember even after a year — a battery with a capacity of 8 560 mAh. And the most surprising part is that a phone with it weighs less than typical mobiles with a battery cell that’s half the size.

An 8 560 mAh battery designed to last six years

The secret is called silicon-carbon technology. Thanks to it, significantly more energy fits into the same space than in a classic lithium-ion cell—so the Turbo at just 196 grams has a capacity that power banks only had as recently as two years ago. Honor also claims the cell will keep its specs for six years, which is an unusual battery-life guarantee for phones—normally, you’ll notice a clear drop in capacity after two to three years.

In practice, the manufacturer should promise up to four days of normal use on a single charge, or roughly 15 hours of the screen on at full brightness. Even if you cut that by a third for real-world conditions, you’re still talking about a phone that doesn’t need a charger for a weekend trip. And if you do plug it in, it’ll take care of the rest with 80W wired charging.

A 6 000-nit display and Snapdragon 6 Gen 4

The front features a 6.79-inch OLED panel with a 2640 × 1200 pixel resolution, a 120 Hz refresh rate, and DCI-P3 coverage. Honor lists peak brightness up to 6 000 nits and bezels just 1.3 mm thick—these are specs flagship phones used to brag about last year. So readability in direct sunlight shouldn’t be a problem.

Performance is handled by the Snapdragon 6 Gen 4. As the portal Gizmochina reports, in Geekbench 6 it typically scores around 1,070 points in the single-core test and about 3,060 points in the multi-core test. It’s a mid-range chip—perfectly fine for social media, maps, videos, and everyday games, but for the most demanding titles in maximum detail, you shouldn’t expect miracles. Memory is currently only in a single configuration: 8 + 256 GB, and software is handled by MagicOS 10 based on Android 16.

IP69K durability—and what the Turbo doesn’t have

Another big draw is IP69K protection. This isn’t just splash resistance—this standard means resistance to hot water jets under high pressure, so the phone can handle rinsing under a faucet and working in dusty environments. In this price segment, it’s equipment you really rarely see.

You also have to be fair about where Honor cut back. The camera setup includes a 50MP main sensor and a 5MP ultra-wide lens; the selfie camera is 16MP—nothing that would knock a photography enthusiast off their seat. There’s no telephoto lens, no wireless charging, and Honor hasn’t yet said how many years of updates the phone will get. The Turbo is clearly built for endurance and toughness above all; the rest is fairly average.

Price and availability

Sales have so far only kicked off in the Eurasian region, where the new model starts at 33,990 rubles, which works out to roughly under €400. You can choose from black, green, and orange. Honor hasn’t said anything yet about whether the Turbo will also make it into the global lineup or reach European retailers — if it does, you’ll hear about it here first.
