Narwal presented an entire fleet of new vacuum cleaners at CES 2025, but one model, Narwal Flow, stands out from the lineup. This robotic vacuum comes with an innovative solution for thorough carpet cleaning and also includes a handy retractable mopping system that leaves no corner untouched.

Narwal is among the top manufacturers in the robotic vacuum cleaner segment. Even if their innovations aren’t as flashy as those from other brands shown at CES (for example, Dreame demonstrated a robot that can climb stairs, Roborock has a mechanical arm to lift socks, and SwitchBot delivers lunch), they are often more practical and simply more useful.

Powerful carpet cleaning

Robotic vacuums often struggle with thorough cleaning of thicker carpets, but Narwal Flow tackles this with interesting features. One of them is the “moonwalk” — the robot first vacuums forward and then backs up, removing deeply embedded dirt and hair more effectively. This backward movement also lifts carpet fibers and loosens debris. Narwal claims that this technology doubles dust collection compared to standard robots that only vacuum forward.

In addition, Narwal Flow has a brush with a cover that, when it detects a carpet, lowers closer to the floor. This creates suction pressure that increases vacuuming efficiency and picks up dirt better.

Even though the press materials didn’t include any images illustrating these features, the concept looks pretty promising. The previous model Narwal Freo Z Ultra isn’t as advanced in carpet cleaning, but the combination of the new technology with a maximum suction power of 20 000 Pa looks very encouraging.

A new-generation mopping system

Narwal Flow also brings an innovative mopping system. Instead of classic rotating mop pads or a D-shaped setup, it uses a cylinder covered with a mop cloth that keeps spinning continuously (similar to a tank track). The cylinder is supplied with clean water from a small tank, while dirty water is automatically drained into a separate tank so the mop stays as clean as possible.

Unlike other hybrid robots that clean the mop only after returning to the docking station, Narwal Flow can do it continuously while it’s working. The result should be cleaner hard floors without smearing dirt around.

Narwal Flow is equipped with dual RGB cameras and an AI chip that lets it recognize and avoid more than 200 different types of obstacles. It can also automatically adjust to its height so it can clear obstacles up to 40 mm tall. Its docking station offers up to eight functions, including emptying the dust bin, cleaning and drying the mop, and refilling the water tank.
