The OnePlus 15 was taken into the hands of the well-known YouTuber JerryRigEverything, and the result is exactly what you’d expect from this series — a proper load of tests, knife prying, bending, and finally a complete teardown. Along the way, though, there was also a big confirmation of the marketing claim that many people considered more like an overhyped advertisement than reality. And yes, it’s a “tearable” cooling chamber (Vapor Chamber).
Where to buy it?
You can find the OnePlus 15 at popular local retailers, but its official price for Europe is really too high (over €1000!). But we wouldn’t be us if we didn’t have a perfect alternative for you, where you can save over the magic €450! No tricks there. Everything about the reinstalled global ROM version — you can read in our article. Check the prices in the boxes below, but be sure to click through to the article and read everything about the phone’s version.
The only drawback that’s shown up most recently is the currently low quality of streaming services due to Widevine L3, though sellers claim there may be a fix in the next update.

Marketing that isn’t just marketing: You’ll tear it with your hands
Before the launch of the new product, OnePlus claimed that their brand-new vapor chamber is so thin you can simply tear it apart with your fingers. Sounds absurd, right? Jerry, of course, tried it — and it turned out the manufacturer wasn’t exaggerating. The chamber really is extremely thin and can be torn without much force. This isn’t a quality issue — quite the opposite. The design is made so heat passes through its walls as quickly as possible, which boosts cooling efficiency under high Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip load.
The chamber is located under the display, which means getting to it is difficult, and during the teardown test the YouTuber practically had to destroy the display. That alone proves it isn’t an ordinary metal capsule, but an ultrathin component that works on the principle of phase change of vapor.

Micro-Arc Oxidation frame and a “sand-like” back. This is an extremely durable phone
The biggest surprise comes with the phone’s frame. OnePlus 15 uses a new Micro-Arc Oxidation (MAO) surface treatment. According to the manufacturer, this technology makes the material up to 3.4× harder than aluminum and even 1.3× harder than titanium. In practice, the test confirmed it — knife prying left clearly smaller marks than on typical anodized frames. In terms of feel, the surface resembles fine matte glass, but it’s still metal.
The tested Sandstorm variant uses a reinforced plastic back cover. While it isn’t as scratch-resistant as glass, it offers better drop resistance, which the tester confirmed as well — the plastic doesn’t split or crack, it only gets scratched. The Infinite Black and Ultraviolet versions got a classic glass back.
IP69, bending, and seals: Even most flagship phones couldn’t do it
The OnePlus 15 carries an IP69 certification, meaning resistance to high-pressure water and steam cleaning — something that’s a step higher than traditional IP68. In the disassembled body you can see red rubber seals on the connectors and around the internal modules. The bend test went great — when bending from the back, the phone didn’t move at all; from the front it bent slightly, but without damaging the construction or compromising water resistance.
It’s great to see that despite an extremely large battery and thin chamber walls, OnePlus still kept excellent rigidity.
7300 mAh! A huge battery in a body size that’s about normal
The biggest surprise when disassembling the phone was its battery. The 7300 mAh capacity is practically unheard of in the standard flagship category. This is a new type of Silicon Carbon Nano Stack battery in a dual configuration. OnePlus doesn’t hide the fact that it wants to beat the competition in battery life—and so far, it looks like they’ve managed it.
Thanks to the “pull-tabs,” the battery is paradoxically easier to remove than with other brands—a further plus point for serviceability.
Top-tier flagship-level hardware
The device won’t disappoint you even in terms of specs. Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 is among the most powerful chips around right now. The display is 6.8 inches, 165 Hz, and it’s protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2. Charging is 80 W via USB-C and 50 W wirelessly. The camera setup is a triple 50 MP array, complemented by a 3.5× zoom with OIS and a high-quality 32 MP selfie module with an RGBW sensor.
Even though the OnePlus 15 has been criticized for a camera downgrade, because it uses smaller sensors than OnePlus 13, for its price it’s still a great-equipped smartphone—and it’s primarily aimed at people who don’t need an absolutely top-tier camera.
The internal structure looks clean. It uses standard cross-head screws and modular components that you can relatively easily replace. The charging port has its own seal for IP69, which isn’t the standard with many brands.

Conclusion: One of the most durable flagship ships of the year, and marketing that doesn’t lie
According to the teardown test, the OnePlus 15 confirms that it belongs among the toughest and best-constructed flagship ships of the current generation. A durable MAO frame, high IP69 rating, excellent performance in the bend test, and a massive 7300 mAh battery are strong arguments. But the absolutely most curious (yet functional) detail is the extremely thin vapor chamber—you can rip it apart with your hands—not because it’s weak, but because it works exactly as it’s supposed to.
So it’s an interesting combination of performance, durability, and unexpected technical solutions that push the OnePlus 15 into the category of very unusual flagship ships.
