The electric Denza N8L has a range of 960 km and charges from 10% to 70% in 5 minutes; prices start at €39,000

The luxury Denza brand, part of the BYD group, has so far sold big six-seat SUVs— Denza N8L only as a plug-in hybrid. From 14 September 2026, it will also offer it in China as— a pure electric vehicle with a 130 kWh battery, 960 km of range, and charging that takes less time than a coffee break. The company presents it as a luxury SUV where artificial intelligence plays the key role.

130 kWh battery and charging in 5 minutes

According to the portal CarNewsChina, the electric N8L received a second-generation Blade Battery with a capacity of 130.15 kWh and an 800-volt architecture. The range according to the Chinese cycle CLTC is 960 km, while the stricter European methodology WLTP puts it at 778 km. That’s also a very solid figure for a nearly five-metre SUV.

The main attraction is support for the Flash Charging system. At special BYD charging stations, the battery charges from 10 to 70% in five minutes and from 10 to 97% in about nine minutes. At a regular fast charger, it will be slower. The car is powered by a single electric motor on the rear axle with an output of 370 kW (496 hp). The sources do not specify 0–100 km/h acceleration or top speed.

Five-metre length and rear-wheel steering

The dimensions are unchanged from the hybrid: length 5,200 mm, width 1,999 mm, height 1,820 mm, and a wheelbase of 3,075 mm. Inside, there are six seats in three rows of two (2 + 2 + 2). Since the electric version has no internal-combustion engine up front, it adds a power-operated front trunk with 208 litres of volume that also includes a drain opening, so you can safely store wet or dirty items.

Comfort is handled by the DiSus-A system with air suspension featuring double-chamber air springs and adaptive dampers. The five-metre giant also steers the rear wheels, giving it a turning radius of just 4.58 metres. That’s less than many typical compact cars have.

Six screens, Devialet, and a lidar assistant

The interior uses Nappa leather, a suede-like headliner, and a wood trim with a starry-sky effect. Electrek’s Electrek breaks down the six screens: a digital instrument cluster, a central display, a display for the front passenger, two rear displays, and a fold-out screen from the ceiling. It also includes augmented reality on the front windshield (AR-HUD) and branded audio from Devialet.

It also includes an AI assistant that can control a smart home. The assistance system God’s Eye 5.0 uses lidar, five radars, twelve ultrasonic sensors, and twelve cameras. It can handle assisted driving based on navigation on highways and in the city, and the car can park itself—even remotely.

Cheaper than the hybrid—at least not yet for Europe

The electric N8L is sold in two versions for 299,800 and 329,800 yuan, which—according to the ECB exchange rate from 16 September—comes to roughly €38,700 and €42,600. As CnEVPost points out, the electric car with the larger battery is 20,000 yuan cheaper than the plug-in hybrid, which in China costs from 319,800 yuan.

For Slovak conditions, that’s a very low price for a car of this size and equipment—except that the N8L is not planned to be brought to us yet. Denza only entered Europe this year with the Z9 GT and D9 models, and their prices are significantly higher than in China: the Z9 GT starts at €115,000. Big electric SUVs with six or seven seats are also scarce on our market, so the N8L would have to target a segment where there’s still no wide selection.
