Honor MagicOS 11 gets a transparent Liquid Glass design inspired by iOS

At its developer conference, Honor officially unveiled MagicOS 11, a new version of the overlay built on Android 17. It brings a transparent look that closely resembles the Liquid Glass design from iOS, a more capable AI assistant, and a feature meant to free up dozens of gigabytes on your phone without deleting anything. First, it will arrive on Honor Magic9 series devices, but the beta is already open for older models as well.

Transparent design and 20% faster animations

As we wrote already before the premiere, Honor drew visual inspiration from Apple. According to the GSMArena website, the new look is built on Honor’s own base architectures—Luminous and Hummingbird—which tune interface animations, AI processing, and hardware performance.

Even with the flashier look, Honor says system animations should be up to 20% faster than in MagicOS 10. Transparent layers appear in control elements and apps too—for example, in the gallery.

The system got new icons, menu items, and widgets. You can color-customize the icons on the home screen as well as in the dock.

YOYO can handle tasks up to 100 steps

The second big update is an improved AI assistant YOYO. Honor prepared it for more than 1,000 scenarios and connected it to over 10,000 third-party AI services—however, that currently applies only to China. According to the manufacturer, the assistant should also be able to handle long tasks requiring up to 100 steps.

MagicOS 11 also improves collaboration with devices from other brands. You can simply share files and link up with Apple devices, but also phones from Oppo, vivo, and Xiaomi.

Storage Space 2.0 frees up to 60 GB

A practical new feature is Storage Space 2.0. It losslessly compresses stored data and, according to Honor, frees up to 60 GB on your phone. How much space you’ll actually gain depends on what kind of data you have on the device.

Which devices will get MagicOS 11

The overlay debuts on the Honor Magic9 series, which will be unveiled on September 28. The public beta is open in China for more than 18 devices: Magic V6, Magic V5, Magic8 RSR Porsche Design, Magic8 Pro, Magic8 Pro Air, Magic8, Magic7 RSR Porsche Design, Magic7 Pro, Magic7, Honor WIN, WIN RT, GT Pro, 600 Pro, 600 Super Edition, 600 Vitality Edition, MagicPad3 Pro 12.3″ and MagicPad3 Pro tablets, and the Honor Watch 6 Plus. GSMArena adds that owners of Magic6, Magic V3, and the Honor 400 and 500 series can also sign up for the internal beta.

In October and November, more devices will be added: Honor Robot Phone, Magic Vs3, Magic V2 RSR Porsche Design, Magic V2 Ultimate Edition, Magic V2, Magic V Flip2, Magic5 Ultimate Edition, Magic5 Pro, Magic5, Honor GT, 300 Ultra, 300 Pro, 300, 200 Pro, 200, 100 Pro, 100, 90 GT, Honor Power, X80 Pro Max, X70 Pro Max, X70 Refresh Edition, X70, X80i, Honor Tablet 20 and Tablet 10, and Watch 5 Ultra, Watch 5 Pro, and Watch 5 smartwatches.

Note: this is a schedule for the Chinese versions of the devices. When MagicOS 11 arrives globally for models sold also in Slovakia, Honor hasn’t announced yet. Global updates typically roll out with some delay, so owners of European versions will likely have to wait longer.
