After a year of waiting, Huawei brings a completely new generation of its popular smartwatches — Watch GT 6. This series brings significant improvements that will especially delight athletes and tech enthusiasts. Compared to previous models, you can look forward to better battery life, more precise location tracking, as well as new software with improved sports modes and health monitoring.

Two sizes and an impressive battery life

The base Watch GT 6 model is available in two sizes — 41 mm and 46 mm, while the GT 6 Pro version is available only in the larger 46 mm variant. That’s where the manufacturer claims battery life of up to 21 days with light use and 12 days with typical use. The smaller 41 mm version handles 14 days with lighter use and 7 days with standard use, which is still an excellent result in the smartwatch segment.

Behind this success are new battery types with increased silicon content, which are also shaped in an unusual way — precisely to fit better into the watch’s form. As a result, energy density was increased by 37%, which directly translates into longer battery life.

Better GPS and a brighter display

Huawei also focused on location accuracy. New algorithms together with a redesigned antenna setup and dual-band support for all global satellite systems can improve accuracy by up to 20%. That’s why outdoor activities like cycling or running get even more room in the new series.

The OLED display has grown to 1.47 inches (on the 46 mm model) and offers up to 3000 nits brightness — more than double compared to the older GT 5 Pro. The smaller model still has a large 1.32” display that matches the size of the Samsung Galaxy Watch8 Classic.

Upgraded sensors and virtual power for cyclists

For Huawei, health sensors are traditionally the main focus. In the new generation, they improved both the TruSense algorithms and the sensors themselves. Heart-rate measurement during cycling reached up to 98%, and 95% during trail running — even despite more challenging conditions for measurement.

There’s also support for external sensors such as a heart-rate strap, cadence sensor, or wattmeter. The watches can now also display Functional Threshold Power—the power you can sustain for an hour without fatigue. And if you don’t have a wattmeter, Huawei developed its first virtual power calculation system for cycling directly in the watch.

Outdoor modes, group rides, and a new mode for wheelchair users

For outdoor enthusiasts, there’s also a group ride mode — you can see the location and status of other riders in real time. Golfers will love the detailed vector course maps with smooth zoom.

It also caters to people with mobility impairments — a wheelchair user mode has been added. The algorithms track movement by rotating the wheels and calculate calories burned and activity time, similarly to walking.

Premium materials and high durability

This time, Huawei bet on premium materials such as sapphire crystal glass, a titanium frame (aerospace-grade aluminum) and a ceramic back made from nanocrystals. The watches are certified IP69 and 5ATM, so they’re ready for diving up to a depth of 40 meters.

The Watch GT 6 Pro (46 mm) is available in Titanium (with a titanium bracelet), Brown (textile strap), and Black (fluoroelastomer). The classic Watch GT 6 46 mm comes in gray, green, and black shades. The smaller 41 mm model offers a wider choice: black, purple, white, brown, or gold. You’ll also appreciate the option for narrow wrists thanks to the rotating lugs on the straps.

Until now, contactless payments weren’t a given with Huawei watches in Slovakia or the Czech Republic, but that has changed thanks to the Quicko Wallet service. This makes it possible to use NFC and contactless payments in stores.

Official prices

The GT 6 Pro (46 mm) model is on sale starting at €379. The classic GT 6 46 mm version begins at €249. Sales started on September 19.
