Lenovo is bringing innovation to its laptop lineup, something we also witnessed at this year’s CES 2025 in Las Vegas. This is the Lenovo ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 model with a unique sliding display.

After a few years of development, we finally got our first official rolling display computer in the world. It’s called the Lenovo ThinkBook Plus Gen 6, and its display will take your breath away.
The laptop can increase and decrease its screen diagonal. From a standard 14″ laptop body, it can vertically stretch up to as much as 16.7″—with the press of a single button. A similar device was presented as a concept at the show two years ago.
Intel Core Ultra processor, Wi‑Fi 7, and Harman/Kardon speakers
This device is powered by an Intel Core Ultra processor (up to Ultra 7, 200V) and will come with up to 32 GB of LPDDR5X RAM, or 1 TB of fast PCIe 4.0 SSD storage. The graphics chip will be the Intel Xe2, making it a lightweight yet fast machine for graphic designers or for roles that involve working with lots of vertically oriented documents.
In terms of connectivity, you get Wi‑Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, 2 x 2 W stereo speakers from Harman/Kardon, two microphones, and a 5 MPx IR webcam for video calls.
The portable mini-computer—often referred to as 14″ laptops—will be complemented by an entirely new category of convertible products that, in the same size, offer a larger screen diagonal and more space for displaying content.
The keyboard layout also isn’t an issue: the 4:3 aspect ratio that used to be extremely popular has already reached its limit. The sliding display expands all the benefits of this orientation even further. And extending it vertically also helps you work on a single screen without needing an external monitor.
Of course, there are other alternatives on the market, in the form of laptops with two displays and an external keyboard, or a secondary touch panel above the keyboard. But without a stand or other external accessories, they won’t offer the same comfort as the new ThinkBook.
If we’re to look at a downside, it’s the questionable build quality of the sliding motors for the display. Lenovo will probably test it over thousands of uses, but only real-world experience will show how durable it is. Availability in Europe and the retail price of this new product are still unknown.
