Meizu is a Chinese company that, besides smartphones, is also trying to break into the smartwatches market. Helping it with that are the newly unveiled Meizu Watch, powered by the latest Snapdragon 4100.
Square design and the latest Snapdragon
The watch design is a bit reminiscent of Apple Watch. But that’s absolutely not a problem, because the square display can show more content than the round one. The watch dimensions are 46 x 38.4 x 12.97 millimeters. With the included strap, the weight is a pleasant 69 grams.
The watch body is made of durable aluminum from series 6, and the underside is made of ceramic. On the side of the device, there’s a single physical button.

The display has a 1.78-inch diagonal with a resolution of 368 x 448 pixels and a pixel density of 326 pixels per inch. It uses AMOLED technology, has curved 2.5D glass, and is covered by Corning Gorilla Glass.
The heart of the device is the latest processor from Snapdragon designed for wearables. It’s the Snapdragon Wear 4100. We could also see this chip in the TicWatch Pro 3. Its biggest advantage is its speed, but especially its low power consumption. It’s paired with 1 GB RAM and 8 GB of internal storage.
Flyme OS and solid battery life
Using a Qualcomm processor could mean that Meizu would ship with Wear OS. That didn’t happen, though—and the company created its own operating system called Flyme OS. It’s complemented by an intelligent assistant, Aicy. According to the manufacturer, this system should be expertly optimized, and you should get a similar experience to when using a smartphone.
The watches have a battery with a capacity of 420 mAh. The manufacturer promises up to 36 hours of battery life on a single charge. Charging is handled by a charging “puck” with an USB C connector. We like this solution because it’s much more practical than when the cable is an inseparable part of the entire charging dock.
The watches come with built-in Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, and an NFC chip for contactless payments via the service Meizu Pay. You’ll also appreciate the eSIM integration, so these watches can work as a standalone device for receiving calls and replying to incoming messages.
A wide range of sports
Meizu Watch can track sports activities like running, walking, an elliptical trainer, cycling, table tennis, badminton, bowling, a rowing machine, climbing, and jumping on a power swing. It supports measuring blood oxygen saturation SpO2, sleep tracking, and also breathing exercises.
Meizu Watch start selling from June 1 and are intended exclusively for the Chinese market. Their price will be 1,499 yuan, which is about 192 euros. There will be two color options: black and azure.
