TicWatch Pro 2020 vs TicWatch C2+ comparison: Which of the top Wear OS watches is the better buy?

In today’s comparison, TicWatch Pro 2020 vs TicWatch C2+, we’ll look at a pair of premium smartwatches with Wear OS by Google. Besides their relatively low price, the watches also offer a very good price-to-performance ratio.

But how do they fare when it comes to a direct comparison of the most important features? We’ll try to find the answer in this comparison article.

TicWatch Pro 2020 vs TicWatch C2+: Technical specifications

Display and design finish

When it comes to design, both watches use glass materials on the front, with stainless-steel cases as well as durable aluminum materials. The circular design looks elegant, and the watches also differ in the width of the strap—especially the C2+, which is split into a men’s and a women’s version in this way. Both models feature two physical buttons for additional control of Wear OS by Google.

On the display side, however, the more expensive Pro model clearly takes the lead. It offers a touchscreen 1.39″ AMOLED panel with a resolution of 400 x 400 pixels—and that’s not even everything. The watch also has a second display, layered in place of the primary one. This is an FSTN panel that resembles an e-Ink display. This display is battery-efficient; it activates after the primary panel goes dark.

The C2+ model offers a smaller touchscreen 1.3″ AMOLED panel with a resolution of 360 x 360 pixels. In this case, there is no secondary panel on the watch. However, the watch is also cheaper and design-wise looks more elegant, which may convince many users.

Connectivity

In terms of connectivity, both the more expensive and the cheaper watches offer Bluetooth technology. They also include Wi-Fi and an NFC chip. The cheaper model has Bluetooth 4.1 and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n for connecting to a phone, while the more expensive Pro model then includes Bluetooth 4.2 and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n.

The problem is with the built-in NFC chip. Both smart watch models offer it, but on Slovakia, due to the localization of this service, card payments can’t be used. The watches do offer the Google Pay app, but the service is blocked. This is definitely a downside if you’re looking for watches with that functionality.

Internal storage

The internal storage (memory) of both watches is the same and it is 4 GB. The available RAM is also identical, stopping at 1 GB. It’s the RAM that’s responsible for running apps in the background and for the smooth response of Wear OS by Google.

In both cases, it’s a shame to pair it with an older Qualcomm 2100-series processor, but the system is still very smooth and stable.

The internal storage will then be used to install all the necessary apps from the Google Play Store. There’s a range of WearOS apps available, such as Google Fit, Messenger, Telegram, Spotify, Google Maps, Dexcom, and many others.

Some apps work together with a smartphone (for example, custom watch face designs), so you get even more options to personalize the watch—its look and its functions.

Great options with Wear OS

The TicWatch Pro 2020 includes an integrated microphone and speaker, so when paired with your smartphone you can call with no issues and use them like true hands-free. You also get the option to reply directly to notifications using the tiny keyboard or by voice input.

We don’t have personal experience with the TicWatch S2+, and this information isn’t shown on the manufacturer’s website, so we can’t say for sure whether it has a microphone and a speaker. Most likely, though, it also includes this functionality.

When it comes to the fitness features of these watches, the lineup includes not only monitoring of sports activities, steps, heart rate, cadence, and acceleration, but also a built-in GPS and GLONASS sensor.

This enables you to perform standalone activities directly on the watch, without a smartphone—and even with synchronization, for example via the Google Fit service. The manufacturer also advertises additional sports features on its official website, such as Proactive running or cycling, which will be available through OTA updates.

Battery life

Charging and battery life are just as important parts of a smartwatch’s equipment. In both cases, charging is handled via a magnetic charger with a standard USB – A connector. The more expensive Pro model has a battery with a total capacity of 415 mAh, while the cheaper C2+ is then exactly 400 mAh.

The TicWatch Pro 2020 battery life ranges from 2 – 5 days depending on usage. In the basic and limited mode (FSTN panel), it can then be extended up to 30 days of use. Combined use will offer a range of 2 – 30 days, depending on usage. The TicWatch C2+ will provide up to 2 days per charge with full-feature usage.

Price and availability

TicWatch Pro 2020, just like the TicWatch C2+, is currently available from international sellers. On the official websites, the Pro model’s price was set at 259 € / 259 USD. The cheaper, second model C2+ received a price of 209 € / 209 USD.

Final verdict: TicWatch Pro 2020 vs TicWatch C2+

The target audience for these two watches may be slightly different. If you’re looking for more affordable smartwatches with WearOS and also a more elegant design, the TicWatch C2+ is a great choice—it offers not only a durable body and IP 68 certification, but also fitness features.

However, if you have a bigger budget and want to invest, the TicWatch Pro 2020 offers an interesting solution with a monochrome display, a larger battery, and more accurate sensors.
