On AliExpress, you can find powerful graphics cards with AMD and Nvidia chips for a fraction of the price: RTX 3060 and Radeon RX 6600M

The days when getting a graphics card at a reasonable price was extremely difficult are thankfully long gone. Crypto mining isn’t the big thing it used to be over the past years, which is also why many older graphics cards are now available on marketplaces. But you can still find great deals at AliExpress. Prices are fair and reviews are very positive. Is there a catch, or can you confidently place an order for graphics cards through AliExpress?

Unbeatable prices, no customs duty

If you’ll need a new GPU soon, you’ll be pleased that the models sold via AliExpress come with fast 13-day delivery. It’s possible that your product will be held by customs before it arrives and you’ll have to pay VAT (the price box lists prices including VAT for your reference). Then the VAT will be deducted in your cart, because this is goods over €150 from a Chinese warehouse—the amount you can see in the “Price adjustment” section.

You won’t have to pay customs duty because electronics as well as some other types of goods are exempt from customs duty (source: preclievas.sk).

Editor’s note: These graphics cards are fully functional, as shown by positive reviews and the number of sales. We recommend buying them only if you want to save money and you know what you’re getting. Keep in mind that this is Chinese hardware that may not be 100% new and their origin is unknown. However, hardware recycling is still fairly common today, and the graphics card comes with a one-year warranty from the seller. Are you shopping on AliExpress for the first time?

The process is via the AliExpress mobile app, where most people shop. There are two key things: don’t use Buy now and enter the coupon only in the order summary, in the field Promo code. After you click Pay now, you won’t be able to add it.

  1. Copy the code and click Use discountIn our article, copy the coupon and click the button GET DISCOUNT. The link will take you directly to the product in the AliExpress app.
  2. Use Add to cart instead of Buy nowOn the product card, scroll down and tap Add to cart. Don’t use the Buy now button—you’ll skip the cart, and later you won’t have anywhere to enter the coupon. Before that, double-check the variant: the color, the version, and whether it ships from an EU warehouse.
  3. Through the cart, go to CheckoutA pop-up will appear: Added to cart! — tap Check it out in it. If it disappeared, open the cart with the icon at the bottom right. In the cart, check the product and quantity, then click the red Checkout. Only the items marked with the red ring will be applied.
  4. Enter your address and card, then look for Promo codeIn the order summary, first fill in the delivery address and payment card at the top. Below them there’s a line Promo code — expand it with the arrow on the right.

  5. Paste the code and confirm ApplyIn the field Promo code paste the copied code and click the black Apply. The code is case-sensitive and must not contain spaces.

  6. Check the savings and payIn the Summary expand the line Saved — you’ll see the applied coupon there as AliExpress coupons/codes. Only when Total is really lower, click Pay now.

Apply the discount already at the order summary. After you click Pay now, you can no longer add a coupon. If Apply shows an error, the code has either expired, doesn’t apply to your items, or the order doesn’t meet the minimum amount.
The Store Coupon also goes in the same field. — a coupon from the seller itself, which isn’t always available and changes from day to day. AliExpress coupons can’t be combined, so try both and go with the one that gives you more. Coins are added automatically.

Information you need to start

First of all, we have to mention that these GPUs are truly functional and genuine, which is supported by a large number of positive reviews. They’re being sold in large quantities. However, that doesn’t mean you necessarily have to make your next graphics card purchase via AliExpress. For starters, these are not very well-known brands that make these cards.

Yes, the chips themselves come from giants like Nvidia or AMD, but the manufacturer responsible for assembling the cards, the cooling components used, connectors, and similar parts is a far less well-known Chinese company. If you want to save money and you know what you’re doing, we believe this isn’t a step too far.

Why are these graphics cards so cheap? You need to keep in mind that this is Chinese hardware, and these cards may have been used for crypto mining in the past. On the other hand, it’s important to note that recycling used computer hardware—especially graphics cards—isn’t rare these days. Even a card that was used for demanding crypto mining can then be used for personal purposes, such as gaming on your PC.

After mining, the card itself will most likely be fine, but there’s a chance that the heat-dissipation materials—like paste on the chip or thermal pads on memory modules—may have degraded. If you’re handy and have skills in this area, you can replace these parts yourself at home. If needed, you can use a computer service where they’ll reapply the thermal paste. This step usually isn’t expensive, but it depends on the specific type of card.

Using a card with worn cooling components won’t kill it, but due to higher temperatures it may run at lower working frequencies. The good news is that the graphics are covered by a one-year warranty from the seller, so we assume there won’t be any issues with the cards.

Which graphics cards are available?

There are several graphics cards available with an excellent price-to-performance ratio. They’ll be used for 1080p gaming, but if you just need a GPU for driving a monitor display and playing older, less demanding games, for example a 4 GB card with the AMD RX 550 chip is enough—at a price around just €50. Thanks to its very small size, it’s also suitable for use in a Mini ITX build.

A great choice for gaming and also for more demanding titles in 1080p resolution is the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 with 12 GB of dedicated video memory. Graphics with this chip usually come with only 8 GB of VRAM, so having more memory at this price is definitely a plus.

I don’t want to say anything, but it’s not worth it—especially since they also count on waiting time, customs duty, re-pasting (and how they recycle it), etc. Calling it unbeatable prices is ridiculous. Specifically, Alza and NAY have rtx 3060/ti for 300–330e, plus a fast 2-year warranty. I had a phone from you and the price was clearly shown there, but this is ridiculous and misleading.
