Google Photos ends unlimited and free photo backup in less than a month

After five years of unlimited photo backup options in “high quality” in the Google Photos, app, the American giant has decided to set a limit. Until now, you could back up your photos and videos on the Google Photos servers in unlimited quantity. Now you need to be on alert, because a change is coming.

The change for Google Photos will take effect at the beginning of June 2021

You may know that every Google service user is offered 15 GB of cloud storage for the number of e-mails, Google Drive, Google Photos and similar services.

When it comes to Photos, from the 15 GB of storage, your uploads were counted if you uploaded photos in full resolution. However, the quality that the company provided for free often was enough too.

If you agreed to compression, which would still capture your unforgettable moments in “high quality,” there were no limits. But now the situation is changing and you will always be limited in Google Photos to 15 GB.

Unfortunately, you won’t get unlimited online storage anymore. June 1, 2021 will be the last day when you can enjoy one last moment without restrictions.

We’re truly sorry that the American giant Google has decided to remove this convenience. Thanks to the unlimited space, Google Photos have won an extremely large number of satisfied users.

Subscriptions aren’t expensive at all

So if you want to keep using Photos, you’ll need to consider subscribing to a larger storage plan within Google services.

Maybe it’s more worth it for you to choose some other alternative from the competition, or get an external drive to store your photos and videos.

No matter what you decide, we think many current Google Photos users will still pay for larger storage for full-quality backup anyway. Prices aren’t at all outrageous—quite the opposite.

If you choose any size of cloud storage, it’s worth it for the price as long as you’re often online on multiple devices and you use a well-working synchronization.
