The Baofeng BF-888S radios fall into the category of basic models, suitable for a less demanding user who doesn’t need advanced features. They’re also easy to use, so you just unpack, turn them on and start using them.
One radio weighs 175 g and with the antenna measures 4.5 x 21 x 2.5 cm. The package includes a pair of radios, two charging stations with a USB cable, clips, and a wrist strap.
Range, frequency and other features
The Baofeng BF-888S radios have a frequency range of 400 – 470 MHz for UHF. They have a power output of 5 W, are programmable, and have capacity for 16 channels. The range of the radios is 6 km, but remember that the range always depends on the environment where you use the radios.
The Li-ion battery has a capacity of 1500 mAh, which should be enough for 8 hours of use. There’s also an LED diode for illumination in the dark.
