AnTuTu brings you a ranking of the most powerful processors that power Android smartphones. Qualcomm is still the leader

There’s no doubt that a powerful processor is one of the most important parts of any new smartphone. AnTuTu, the company that regularly tests Android devices, now presents the ranking of the most powerful processors. The ranking applies to Android smartphones and does not include Apple’s processors.

Qualcomm leads

For several years now, there’s been a consensus in the mobile market that the most powerful processor on the market is the flagship model from the American company Qualcomm. Current AnTuTu tests confirm it: first place was defended with a comfortable lead by the current octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 5G.

A bit more interesting is the surprise in second place. Despite the large number of negative reviews, this spot went to the current Samsung processor, specifically Exynos 990. It can be found in flagship devices from the Galaxy series, both here and on the European market.

Fourth place goes to last year’s updated processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus, which we could see in flagship smartphones especially in the second half of 2019. Just behind it, in fifth place, sits the current flagship processor Kirin 990 5G from Huawei.

Sixth place then belongs to last year’s model Qualcomm Snapdragon 855, originally before it was updated to the Plus model. The lower spots are then shared by other last-year processors such as Exynos 9825, Exynos 9820, or the current Kirin 990 without 5G connectivity support.

MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ is also in the ranking

You can also see the placement of the new MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ processor, designed to compete with the world’s top chips. In the overall standings, it grabbed third place, which is really solid.

Step by step, the ranking shifts toward mid-range to upper mid-range models and features Qualcomm 7xx-series processors. Older Kirin chips are also there, as well as some models from MediaTek. In the lower positions you can find, for example, models like Dimensity 1000L or Dimensity 800.

We don’t have real performance comparisons available yet, but we’re already looking forward to the performance showdown between the upcoming Snapdragon 875, Dimensity 1000+ and the new Exynos and Kirin processors.
