Over the past few days, we’ve heard several pieces of information about the upcoming smartphone ASUS ROG Phone 3. The latest updates were about the phone’s hardware lineup, which we also covered in our previous article.
According to the latest published information, the smartphone’s announcement will take place very soon. In addition to the official launch date, it was also confirmed which processor the phone will ultimately feature.
On July 22 already
The Indian online store Flipkart is teasing an exclusive smartphone reveal for the Indian market via a striking poster. It’s also expected that the news will be promoted by YouTuber CarryMinati.
The promo poster reveals several key details right away. The first one is that the smartphone should be unveiled in India on July 22 at 20:15 local time. We’re really excited about this, since only a few days remain until the announcement.
Snapdragon 865 Plus confirmed
The second, equally important update is that the ASUS ROG Phone 3 will officially be powered by the powerful and much-awaited processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 Plus. Again, great news.
As you can see in the video, through ASUS India’s official channel both the launch date and the Snapdragon 865 Plus processor were confirmed. It consists of a main core clocked at 3.09 GHz, three more cores at 2.42 GHz, and four power-efficient cores running at 1.8 GHz.
The graphics chip here will be Adreno 650, paired with up to 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of internal storage in the highest-performance configuration.
The smartphone’s front should feature a 6.59″ AMOLED display with a Full HD+ resolution (1080 x 2400 pixels), an aspect ratio of 19.5:9, and support for a high refresh rate of up to 144 Hz. An optical in-display fingerprint reader should also be included.
The selfie camera on the ASUS ROG Phone 3 is expected to have 13 MPx resolution, and it’s currently unknown whether it will sit in a cutout, a pop-up module, or a larger chin. On the back, there should be three sensors, with the main one offering up to 64 MPx.
The phone will be powered by a battery with a capacity of up to 6000 mAh, which should make the smartphone’s battery life quite impressive. It will also support 30 W fast charging. That’s everything for now from the available specifications.
