It’s mainly intended for users who don’t want to deal with external devices and simply want to launch Netflix or YouTube on a large screen. That’s exactly what makes it so appealing—minimal setup and maximum convenience.
First impressions are surprisingly positive. Even straight out of the box, it doesn’t feel like a cheap toy, but rather like a fully-fledged product ready for everyday use.
But the real question is different: is it a truly usable projector, or just another model with nice marketing?
After testing, we can say the truth is somewhere in the middle. It surprises you in some ways more than you’d expect for the price, but at the same time it reveals a few compromises you need to accept.

The packaging is simple and practical. You’ll find everything you need for instant use:

No unnecessary extras, but also nothing essential is missing from the box. That’s always a plus with similar devices, because after unboxing you can basically start watching right away.
The design is minimalist and modern. The combination of matte plastic and simple lines will fit into most interiors. Plus, right out of the box, the Whale Pro feels better than you’d expect based on the price.
We were pleasantly surprised by the build quality. The projector feels solid and sturdy. Nothing creaks and nothing suggests it will change in the future. Overall, it has decent construction quality, and in your hands it gives a solid, fairly premium impression—which is more of an exception in this price category.
We also liked its compactness. You can easily carry the projector between rooms without any problems, which increases its practical value at home.
Our smaller reservation is about the bottom part. The thread for mounting on a tripod is set into the plastic, where we would have preferred a metal solution. It isn’t a major problem, but with long-term use, metal would feel more secure.
However, you should keep in mind that it’s a plastic housing. When you hear the projector’s price, you don’t expect anything groundbreaking. Still, this model leaves a rather premium impression, and we definitely view that positively.

ETOE WHALE PRO comes with equipment you’d only expect a few years ago in much more expensive models. That’s one of the reasons why this projector can draw attention even on paper.

Marketing promises maximum ease of use, and surprisingly, in most cases it’s true. What’s more, these are functions that genuinely increase comfort in practice, not just nice items in a parameter table.
Image and performance in real life
After you turn it on, the projector sets itself up and you practically only need to press Play. That’s one of its strongest points, because the average user doesn’t want to spend time manually tuning the image.
In ideal conditions—at night or in the dark—the image is really enjoyable. Sharp image and true Full HD resolution are clearly noticeable. So when you watch movies or series, the result feels very decent and can deliver a pleasant home cinema experience.
The colors are decent, and combined with the sharpness, you can enjoy watching movies. In evening conditions, Whale Pro can pleasantly surprise you—exactly the scenario, in our opinion, where it makes the most sense.
But if daylight comes into the picture, things change. So the reality isn’t only marketing—and that’s where the limits of an affordable projector start showing.
In practice, we found that the biggest weakness is brightness. During the day or in light, the image quickly loses contrast and looks washed out. That’s why you need realistic expectations and to keep in mind that it works best in a darkened room.
In other words, only one thing—this projector isn’t meant as a full-fledged replacement for a TV. However, if you use it as a device for evening movies, series, or occasional gaming, it makes a lot more sense.
The fan is another factor. It isn’t extremely loud, but in quieter scenes you notice it. On the other hand, it’s nothing tragic, and during normal viewing it’s often covered by the movie’s sound itself.

The biggest advantage is ease of use. You turn on the projector, it focuses itself and adjusts the image. Instead of spending ages tweaking settings, you simply watch—and that’s exactly how a modern smart projector should work.
Battery life and battery
The projector doesn’t have a built-in battery. That means you should see it more as a home device rather than a truly portable model for frequent moving around without access to a power outlet.
It works only from the mains, so it’s a stationary solution for home. It’s not ideal for traveling, though you can move it around within an apartment or house without much trouble.
The model uses a LED light source, meaning an integrated module, not a classic replaceable lamp. This is an advantage with similar devices today, because you don’t have to worry about changing a traditional lamp.
The manufacturer states a lifespan of the LED source of up to 30,000 hours, which looks very promising with normal use.

The built-in speakers are usable and fairly powerful. They’re enough for casual evening viewing, so for quick watching you don’t need to sort out external audio right away. But if you want fuller sound, stronger bass, and better spatial depth, an external speaker or soundbar is still the better choice.
Usage and Android TV
Android TV is a big plus. Thanks to it, the projector doesn’t feel like a cheap solution that needs another external device, but rather like a fairly standalone multimedia product.

It’s not without flaws. Brightness and daytime use are its weaker points in particular. But if you know what you’re buying it for, these shortcomings may not be a major issue.
On paper, the ETOE Whale Pro belongs among the much brighter models in its class, and the manufacturer states 1500 to 1800 ANSI lumens depending on the specific material. In practice, however, you need to take these figures with a grain of salt, because the real result depends heavily on the room conditions. The result is a projector that works well in the evening, but you shouldn’t expect miracles from it during the day.
If you use it properly – that is, in the evening or in a darkened room – you’ll get a very decent movie experience. It also adds easy controls, Android TV, and convenience that cheaper models often lack. In this price range, it is therefore one of the smartest choices.
