Puluma PH001 is a Chinese mountain electric bike that, thanks to its affordable price, solid equipment, and surprisingly good build quality, is gaining more and more fans. However, you won’t find many reviews on the internet. That’s why we decided to reach out to one member of an FB cycling group who ordered it and bring you an authentic experience directly from a user who chose to share his impressions of the ride and the bike’s build quality.

The first fan review on China Planet

We’re not used to this kind of content here, but we’d like to share more of it because most people really appreciate especially authentic feedback. That’s why we’re bringing you a review in this format. If it proves to be a success, we’ll definitely continue with it. Martina was contacted based on his post in a cycling / e-scooter group on Facebook, where he praised his new Puluma PH001 and was willing to send us his photos and evaluation. We only slightly adjusted the text from a grammatical point of view so it reads better, but his content and rating remain unchanged.

Original Facebook post

Martin bought the bike from the official Puluma store, but we don’t have cooperation with that shop and, at the moment, it’s more cost-effective on AliExpress.

Where to buy it?

Are you shopping on AliExpress for the first time?

The process is via the AliExpress mobile app, where most people shop. There are two key things: don’t use Buy now and enter the coupon only in the order summary, in the field Promo code. After you click Pay now, you won’t be able to add it.

  1. Copy the code and click Use discountIn our article, copy the coupon and click the button GET DISCOUNT. The link will take you directly to the product in the AliExpress app.
  2. Use Add to cart instead of Buy nowOn the product card, scroll down and tap Add to cart. Don’t use the Buy now button—you’ll skip the cart, and later you won’t have anywhere to enter the coupon. Before that, double-check the variant: the color, the version, and whether it ships from an EU warehouse.
  3. Through the cart, go to CheckoutA pop-up will appear: Added to cart! — tap Check it out in it. If it disappeared, open the cart with the icon at the bottom right. In the cart, check the product and quantity, then click the red Checkout. Only the items marked with the red ring will be applied.
  4. Enter your address and card, then look for Promo codeIn the order summary, first fill in the delivery address and payment card at the top. Below them there’s a line Promo code — expand it with the arrow on the right.
Riadok Promo code v zhrnutí objednávky v aplikácii AliExpress
Look for this line under the address and payment method.
  5. Paste the code and confirm ApplyIn the field Promo code paste the copied code and click the black Apply. The code is case-sensitive and must not contain spaces.
Políčko Promo code s kódom a tlačidlom Apply v aplikácii AliExpress
Paste the code into the field and confirm with the Apply button.
  6. Check the savings and payIn the Summary expand the line Saved — you’ll see the applied coupon there as AliExpress coupons/codes. Only when Total is really lower, click Pay now.
Riadok Saved s uplatneným kupónom a znížený Total v aplikácii AliExpress
The applied coupon will appear in the Saved line and will reduce the Total.
Apply the discount already at the order summary. After you click Pay now, you can no longer add a coupon. If Apply shows an error, the code has either expired, doesn’t apply to your items, or the order doesn’t meet the minimum amount.
The Store Coupon also goes in the same field. — a coupon from the seller itself, which isn’t always available and changes from day to day. AliExpress coupons can’t be combined, so try both and go with the one that gives you more. Coins are added automatically.

Review by Martin: An authentic look at the Puluma PH001

Well, so I’d start with the look and the price. I think, as far as that goes, it’s a really nice bike—especially once you customize it with the components you like, etc., just like similar e-vehicles from China. In terms of quality, it’s at a very good level for the price. In this new version, all the cables are routed neatly through the frame. The battery on my bike version is already Samsung (older versions have Panasonic). The bike arrived without a single scratch—actually even greased, though with what looks like some basic lubricant, but nothing squeaked anywhere: the fork, the shock, and the chain. Anyone can, of course, grease it nicely with quality lubricant, like I did.

As for the suspension, that’s the first minor drawback out of the three I’ll get back to. The front fork isn’t anything extra, but for everyday riding—city, asphalt—it’s completely sufficient, and it won’t be scared by even smaller off-road sections. Easy to maintain, and it also has locking… Of course, if someone wants to ride downhill or in bike parks, they can simply swap it for something better.

Frame, brakes, and detailed impressions

Next, the shock. From the factory it was set up, I think it was fine, but since it doesn’t have locking, I personally adjusted it to the maximum rebound damping, and I also choked the spring at max because it was bobbing while pedaling. But for some people that might be a benefit, since I think that how it was set up, it was actually pretty soft and comfortable. So yeah—completely super. Also a maintenance-free DNM shock—there’s nothing to deal with.

The brakes are Shimano MT200 hydraulic. No problems—they brake nicely. The only second drawback: they could at least have put a minimum 180 mm rotor on the front, since they’re 160 mm both at the rear and the front. But they brake without any issues. When unboxing, none of the rotors were bent. The third drawback is the battery placement at the bottom and the cover made of typical cheap plastic, so every little stone can cause scratches. But that can be fixed easily—e.g., with a protective carbon sticker.

Gears, range, and real-world performance

Gears—what’s used is the S-Ride derailleur 1×9 and Shimano shifters. After unboxing, it wanted a bit of fine-tuning, but now it shifts beautifully. I tested the range—an uphill ride? No: I tested it by riding to 100% battery on asphalt, my weight is 60 kg, and height is 178 cm—40 km, with 46.2 V battery remaining, which is roughly just under 50%. The bike was on max assist level 5 and only pedaling. Of course, range depends on the rider’s weight, terrain, and weather. The charger has a fan, 4 A, and from 0 to 100% it charges in about 5 hours.

The display is an LCD—sort of a “calculator-style” one, but it’s great and readable even in strong sunlight, and it lights up with a backlight in the dark. It shows all the necessary info: current motor power, distance traveled, battery status (volts and bars), assist level, whether you’re riding on throttle or pedals, and also brake activation thanks to sensors. The horn is integrated into the light and it’s quite loud—like on e-scooters.

Suitability for riders and comfort

As for the riding position—if someone is between 170 and 190 cm, it’s perfect. I only weigh 60 kg, but the fit is absolutely great. There are bearings, and so far it seems to be trouble-free. If it had plastic parts like on other ebikes, it would be worse.

Weight is 28 kg, wheels are 27.5 × 2.8 inches—but I couldn’t get it into a panel building elevator. Visually it looks like a classic European bike. Performance is absolutely fine for my weight—climbs hills without hesitation, and the max speed is about 45 km/h (in mode 5).

Overall evaluation

Puluma PH001 is an e-bike that has a few small flaws, but overall it’s a well-made piece, especially considering the price. The owner praised the build quality, riding characteristics, reliability, and design. Among the negatives, the only things you could mention are the plastic battery cover, the weaker front fork, and the small rotors. However, these are all fixable details that don’t prevent an enjoyable ride. If you’re looking for an affordable e-bike for everyday rides around the city, light off-road or cycle paths, the Puluma PH001 is definitely worth considering.
