New OnePlus flagship wireless earbuds are coming. Here’s their first teaser

OnePlus shocked the public not only with its cheap OnePlus Buds wireless earbuds, but also with their tragicomical detention at a US customs checkpoint. The local security officers believed they were fake Apple Airpods, and they detained the shipment, which contained OnePlus earbuds.

The Chinese manufacturer, however, is currently preparing its new OnePlus flagship wireless earbuds. Now we could see them for the first time in a video.

Right now, we’re witnessing a wave of leaks about the upcoming OnePlus 8T smartphone. It should become a reality during this month, but it’s not the only product the Chinese company OnePlus is working on.

A picture of a not-fully-specified earbud appeared on Twitter. It’s information that most likely points to a silicone tip on the earbud, and that’s said to be part of the new product—flagship wireless earbuds.

The link that comes with this post redirects the user to the smartphone launch event page OnePlus 8T. That means that at the press conference taking place on October 14, 2020, only the mentioned flagship smartphone won’t be unveiled.

The tweet we had a look at comes with the tagline: “A whole new world of sound. Coming soon”. This tagline also makes it clear that the new product will be positioned in the segment of high-quality audio products.

Will it be OnePlus Buds Z?

There were also speculations about the name of this product—at first it seemed like it could be OnePlus Buds Z. We’ll see what the new OnePlus true wireless earbuds look like, but the Buds Z model was the one rumored to offer an open design without silicone tips.

It’s also possible that Buds Z will be a cheaper version of the upcoming earbuds. And as is well known, a lower price means fewer features and more compromises. If that’s the case, the Buds Z model doesn’t match the slogan shared on Twitter.

As for the upcoming press conference, according to available information, OnePlus should officially unveil up to 5 new products. In addition to the smartphone, we also expect flagship true wireless earbuds, a power bank with fast wired charging, and a few other products.

However, the rumored earbuds currently don’t have many leaked technical specifications. If we consider the Buds Z model as the cheaper alternative, then that alternative should also be priced above the well-known Bullets Wireless from OnePlus earbuds.

But the flagship model should go even further. This device is expected to offer Dolby Atmos technology support for new OnePlus flagship smartphones, noise reduction of ambient sound, as well as a certain kind of—and still unspecified—enhanced water resistance.
