The well-known site that focuses mainly on the photographic performance of smartphones tested the new flagship model called OnePlus 8 Pro. It performed quite strongly in the test and scored up to 119 points overall. With this result, it even beat flagship phones like Samsung Galaxy S20+ or iPhone 11 Pro Max.
DxO Mark: OnePlus 8 Pro
The new flagship smartphone from the Chinese manufacturer OnePlus is trying to refute facts from the past about the compromises that users had to accept, especially when it came to the camera. Proof of solid work is also provided by the latest results from the DxO Mark testing lab.

DxO Mark is a fairly well-known portal that regularly tests smartphones’ photo and audio performance. Many sellers are not shy about putting the results from these reviews front and center. The new OnePlus 8 Pro scored 126 points in the Photo category and 103 points in the Video category. Overall, it racked up 119 points.
Beats its flagship rivals
On the photography side, the flagship smartphone from OnePlus was praised mainly for its exposure, but also for color accuracy. The telephoto lens and zoom were also highlighted positively, along with a very low noise level across different scenarios.

The camera kept a very solid level of detail under various conditions. Its autofocus was generally accurate and fast. However, there were also some mistakes: moving objects recorded blur in the form of so-called “ghosts”, and the lens also couldn’t handle direct and strong light very well.
Video recording performance, exposure, color accuracy, and autofocus showed consistent results. Stabilization of the primary image sensor achieved surprisingly high scores thanks to the high-quality work it delivers. On the negative side, for example, shadows in HDR scenes were noted.

Camera setup
The main 48 MPx sensor is the Sony IMX689 with a sensor size of 1/1.4″ and an aperture of ƒ/ 1.7. The secondary sensor also has 48 MPx and it’s a Sony IMX586 Exmor RS that serves as both a wide-angle (120° FOV) and a macro sensor at the same time. The third 8 MPx sensor is for zooming in, and the 5 MPx one is the well-known Color Filter sensor.
Compared to last year, OnePlus has made a significant improvement in the camera department. Their smartphones were often criticized for this, because users expected a quality camera paired with quality hardware—something OnePlus has always had.
