In a recently published article, we informed you about the officially confirmed launch date of the new OnePlus 8T. It will be unveiled on October 14. However, the arrival of the new model also means lower prices for the older ones, which will make more than one fan happy.
OnePlus cuts prices
OnePlus has decided to slightly discount its 8th-series smartphones ahead of the launch of the new model. So the price drop applies not only to the base model, but also to the Pro variant.
At the moment, the price of the base model has dropped from the original 699 EUR / 699 USD to 649 EUR / 599 USD. It’s the configuration 8 GB RAM / 128 GB ROM. However, it’s available in just one color variant—specifically in green.
As for the more powerful configuration, 12 GB RAM / 128 GB ROM, the price has also dropped by 100 USD. The current price for this configuration is 699 USD from the original 799 USD. However, it isn’t available everywhere.
The more powerful OnePlus 8 Pro has also been discounted. With the configuration 12 GB RAM / 256 GB ROM, the price is 100 USD less, resulting in 899 USD from the original 999 USD. This model, though, is not available everywhere, so we only know the price in dollars.
The variant with the same internal storage size, but this time with 8 GB of RAM, will cost you 799 USD / 687 EUR instead of the original 899 USD / 773 EUR.
Competition never sleeps
If you’re still deciding between OnePlus 8 or OnePlus 8 Pro, but you’re also open to other options, Xiaomi or Samsung are still here. The direct competition for these smartphones includes the Xiaomi Mi 10 and the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE.
With the Xiaomi Mi 10, you get a bigger battery compared to both the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro, along with wireless charging, while all of them offer equally fast 30 W charging. Compared to the base OnePlus 8 model, the Xiaomi Mi 10 has a larger display or better cameras, plus a bigger sensor — 108 MPx vs 48 MPx.
Samsung Galaxy S20 FE is a new addition to the manufacturer’s lineup and offers more or less the same as the Xiaomi Mi 10. You get a bigger battery with wireless charging, better cameras, a 120 Hz display, and support for a microSD card.
However, the OnePlus 8 series has nothing to be ashamed of. The Snapdragon 865 paired with a high-quality AMOLED Full HD+ display with a 90 or 120 Hz refresh rate ensures a smooth user experience.
With fast 30 W charging, you can charge the smartphone to about 60% in 30 minutes. Large batteries—4,510 mAh for the Pro model and 4,300 mAh for the base model—ensure up to 2 days of battery life with lighter usage.
In terms of connectivity, you’ll find Wi‑Fi 6, Bluetooth version 5.1, NFC for contactless payments, or the latest 5G technology. The base OnePlus 8 model has three cameras, while the Pro model offers one additional sensor.
