The newly launched Realme GT 8 Pro series ranks among the first models with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. It also brings a hefty load of hardware in the form of a 144 Hz LTPO AMOLED display, a huge 7 000 mAh battery, and a camera module with a trio of sensors plus a removable cover. Yes, you’re reading that right – removable. How is that possible, and what other specs does it hide inside?

Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, 7 000 mAh battery, and 120 W charging
After the launch of the iQOO 15 with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip, Realme has also answered back. The duo of the Realme GT 8 and GT 8 Pro looks very similar at first glance. The “Pro” version brings faster 120 W wired charging and adds support for a 50 W wireless alternative. The base Realme GT 8 sticks with 100 W power and does not support wireless charging.
Both new models are built around a huge 7 000 mAh battery, which many will hope will deliver above-average endurance on a single charge. The biggest showpiece is supposed to be the camera setup with a new design element in the form of a replaceable rear cover for the module. The entire “camera island” is detachable, and you can swap it for a different shape or pattern. It is held in place by a pair of screws and magnetic connectors. Realme is also preparing official square, circular, and futuristic variants, and 3D files have also been released via Maker World so the community can design its own modules. Creativity really has no limits here.

The cameras also gain a unique character thanks to a new collaboration with Ricoh Imaging. In the “Pro” version, you get a main 50 MPx “Ricoh GR anti-glare” sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS), a 200 MPx periscope telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and up to 120x digital zoom, and a 50 MPx ultra-wide lens with a 116-degree field of view.
GR film profiles are also included (Positive, Negative, Hi-contrast B&W, Monotone, …) along with a “Snap/Hyperfocal” mode for instant street shots without waiting for refocusing. The base Realme GT 8 carries over Ricoh image tuning and uses a 50 MPx periscope telephoto lens with 3.5x optics, while both phones share a 32 MPx “selfie” sensor.
LTPO AMOLED displays feature a 6.79-inch diagonal, Quad HD+ resolution (3136 x 1440 px), a high, 144 Hz refresh rate, and 10-bit color reproduction with extreme brightness values. 1000 nits can be reached with manual settings, 2000 nits in a global boost, 4000 nits in direct sunlight, and up to 7000 nits with local peak brightness on some pixels or in HDR. The touch layer has a 3 200 Hz sampling rate, and the security feature in the form of an ultrasonic fingerprint reader sits directly under the screen. In Realme materials, durability is communicated as a combination of certifications IP69/68/66.
At the heart of the device, as hinted earlier, is the 3 nm chipset Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, with the “Pro” model adding a dedicated graphics chip Realme R1 for gaming upscaling and ensuring stable frame rates. Availability is currently announced for the home Chinese market; more details about a wider rollout will come later. This is how the storage variants and Chinese pricing are sold.
