Soundbars are no longer exclusive to the priciest TV bundles worth thousands of euros, and they can be a great addition to a quality TV or projector that, however, doesn’t come with the best speaker setup. After all, nothing can ruin a movie experience more than, of course, bad sound and picture.
This year, we managed to kick off a collaboration with the official retailer of the Ultimea brand — not really a newcomer to the soundbar market, but in our region it’s still not very well known. The manufacturer offers fast delivery from the EU warehouse within one week with no extra charges. It also provides a 2-year warranty!
Recently, we were able to review its models Odine III and Poseidon D60, and now another one of its “Greek gods” has arrived in our editorial office — Apollo S60. This is a fully loaded 4.1 audio system for your home movie experience, featuring its own subwoofer and a maximum power output of 280 W with Dolby Atmos support.
Where to buy the Ultimea Apollo S60?
The Ultimea Apollo S60 is currently available only through the manufacturer’s official website. The great news, though, is availability — for delivery within the European Union, the manufacturer offers 30-day returns and a two-year warranty.

In the box and accessories
The Ultimea Apollo S60 arrived in its product box with a shipping label stuck on it, which surprised us a bit given the size of the device, because we expected it to arrive at least in protective film or another box. Still, the soundbar handled the journey just fine and arrived without any damage.
The box measures 32.7 x 25.5 x 45.2 cm and has a total weight of 6.89 kg. After unpacking all parts of the soundbar, packed in foam inserts, the following accessories remain in the box: a power cable with an adapter, an HDMI cable, a digital optical cable, a stereo audio RCA to RCA cable (10 cm), a stereo audio RCA to RCA cable (2.5 m), a 3.5 mm to RCA stereo audio cable, a wall-mounting kit, a wall bracket, 2x stands for the main sound unit, a remote control (without AA batteries), and a manual in English.
Design and build quality
Ultimea Apollo S60 features a speaker setup consisting of four 2.25″ full-range drivers and a powerful 5.25″ woofer, i.e. a subwoofer, shaped like a cube with the output facing to the side. The 2.25″ drivers are paired into the main sound system in a nice trapezoidal form with rounded corners, which can be split into two halves. The dimensions of one “half” of the soundbar are 81.1 x 9.8 x 7 cm and the weight is 2.18 kg, while the cube-shaped subwoofer measures 11.5 x 27 x 27 cm and weighs 2.82 kg.
The soundbar body is made of glossy plastic, which looks elegant at first, but to the touch you’ll immediately notice what it’s like. The front is covered with a metal grille, while the control buttons are placed on the left side of the soundbar. Specifically, you get a power on/off button, “+” and “-” for volume adjustment, and an input switching button.
One of the most interesting design features is the versatile way you can split the soundbar. From the basic option of placing it on a table—either as one connected soundbar under your TV or mounted on the wall—you can split the sound setup and use the aforementioned “halves” as the L and R units of the system with two drivers each.
You can elegantly place these “halves” on the floor or a table using the included stands and rotate them as needed, or mount each one separately on the wall thanks to the hanging hole. As we already mentioned in the previous chapter, screws and wall anchors for mounting it to the wall are included in the package. The biggest downside of the soundbar “splitting” is the need to use an analog connection for the left and right channels after splitting via the included cable. If that extra cable gets in the way, you can still use the soundbar as a single connected unit.
Speakers and sound quality
Apollo S60 comes with the aforementioned setup of four 2.25″ full-range drivers and a prominent 5.25″ subwoofer that handles primarily the mids and bass, and it also features a bass reflex tube. Together, the system delivers up to 280 W. This is a 4.1-channel surround sound system with a frequency range of 45HZ – 18 kHz, with a maximum sound intensity level of 100 dB.
Let’s get to the most important part of the review—how does this soundbar actually sound? Based on our experience, the Apollo S60 stands out with clean, clear audio and a distinct separation of individual channels, with bass being especially prominent thanks to a genuinely good subwoofer. Surround sound with a high-quality movie and properly placed speakers really earns a top score, and the Apollo S60 can take your home movie watching to a higher level.
However, it definitely falls short when it comes to the highs and mids, which slightly disappear and make the sound lack depth—especially in the mid frequencies—resulting in a somewhat flat and not very inspiring sound profile. Users will notice the shortcomings mainly when listening to music, especially genres with less punchy bass, where the soundbar falls behind. The music is still at a decent level, but it’s not the immersive experience you’d expect from Dolby Atmos.
Sound control and audio customization
An integrated equalizer doesn’t help either—it offers basic settings across three modes: – movie, game, and music. You can also adjust the bass level and the surround effect. In both cases you only get these options: -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, which means a shift compared to the model Poseidon D60, but it doesn’t bring a big enough difference in sound when listening to music.
You can adjust everything using the included remote control, which we rank among the better ones in terms of build quality and button responsiveness. With it, you can switch between inputs, set the volume, customize the equalizer, bass, or the surround effect. The remote also supports the well-known CEC standard, which lets you control an external device via HDMI using the same remote after connecting it.
Connectivity and connection options
Connectivity is definitely an area where the Apollo S60 doesn’t fall short, and Ultimea has decided to include truly broad soundbar connection options. The first—probably the most basic—is the ability to play music from a USB flash drive or any device via Bluetooth, which is available here in a high-standard 5.3 version. To pair, simply switch the soundbar to the BT mode and search for the Apollo S60 on your smartphone, smart projector, or laptop.
Among the options to connect to your TV or other multimedia device via cable, you’ll find HDMI with eARC support, optical, or a 3.5mm jack. A big advantage is that for every port the manufacturer includes a cable for connecting to the input device in the box. You can switch between modes freely using the button on the soundbar or with the remote control. Overall, switching is fast and simple.
Apollo S60: Final assessment
The Ultimea Apollo S60 soundbar looks elegant at first glance, but it feels a bit cheap to the touch. Its biggest advantage seems to be the ability to split the soundbar into L and R units for flexible placement. In terms of sound quality, it shines in the bass area, but it lacks depth in the highs and mids—especially when playing music. For movie nights, it looks like an ideal companion to your TV or projector.
The controls are user-friendly, but the built-in equalizer offers limited customization options. The Apollo S60 has more than enough connection options, and we appreciate the included cables for each of the available ports.
Overall, the Apollo S60 can be recommended especially to fans of high-quality movie sound, because at an affordable price it delivers solid audio, versatile design, and wide connectivity options—though limited customization options and its performance in the highs and mids may leave audiophiles wanting more.
