The electric scooter JOYOR S10-S is currently a bestseller this summer. For a very tempting price under 850 EUR, it offers an attractive design, a 60 V system, and 2 x 1000 W of power. Since this scooter is still gaining popularity, we decided to test it.

Is the JOYOR S10-S scooter really as good as people say? In our detailed review, we’ll look at build quality, suspension, overall ride comfort, performance, acceleration, and we won’t skip the range test on a single charge.

Packaging contents & quality

The JOYOR S10-S electric scooter was delivered to us in a box by the GLS courier, with dimensions of 119 x 25 x 46 cm. The box was wrapped in yellow film and strapped with plastic straps. Thanks to these, it’s easier to carry and the film helps prevent damage or dirt.

Inside, you’ll find a folded scooter with the handlebars disassembled, an instruction manual, a small box where the charger is, and a nylon cover with small accessories. Here you’ll get the tools, spare screws, and even one inner tube, which is quite unusual.

The scooter inside the box is protected with nylon and polystyrene, so there was no damage during shipping. Overall, the packaging quality is at a high level.

Assembling the scooter

As we already hinted, the scooter doesn’t require any special long assembly. Once you take it out of the box, you just remove all packing and protective materials and mount the handlebars.

Simply fold out the main stem, where we then attached the handlebars using three screws. One goes from the top and two from the sides. That’s it. The assembly is really simple and quick.

JOYOR S10-S: Design and build quality

The JOYOR S10-S electric scooter impresses with its attractive design right at first glance. It features bold orange-colored TPU suspension, which immediately stands out. It resembles the Kugoo Kirin G3 scooter we tested some time ago.

In the unfolded state, its dimensions are 124.5 x 61 x 123 cm, and when folded it becomes 115 x 61 x 52.5 cm. It weighs only 27 kg, so based on the dimensions and weight, we can say it’s one of the more compact high-performance scooters.

When it comes to build quality, it’s exceptionally good. The scooter’s construction is made from an aluminum alloy, and as we mentioned earlier, the suspension is made of thermoplastic polyurethane. Nothing rattles or flexes on the scooter, and overall we’re extremely satisfied with the quality.

Handlebars and display

The handlebars of the JOYOR S10-S e-scooter are height-adjustable and have a nice width of 65 cm. In the lowest position they sit 100 cm above the ground, and in the highest position they’re 124 cm. So they can be tailored for both shorter and taller riders. Our editor is 185 cm tall and the handlebars suit him well—both in terms of height and width.

What’s great is that, unlike some other scooters, the handlebars here have only minimal play and they absolutely don’t squeak. They feel solid, and the grips are comfortable to hold.

On the left side you’ll find the rear brake lever, a classic bell, and buttons to turn the scooter on/off and adjust power, while on the right side there’s the front brake lever together with the throttle lever you control with your thumb. If you’re switching to a more powerful scooter from a weaker one, you won’t have to get used to a different throttle control.

In the middle there’s a large color display. It shows your current speed, the selected power level, the mode (single-motor or dual-motor drive), the distance covered, the battery status via a graphic indicator, and the startup method (from zero or after kicking off). The display is easy to read even in sunlight.

Foot deck and lighting

Since the JOYOR S10-S e-scooter is quite compact, the trade-off is a slightly shorter foot deck. For taller people, the scooter may feel a bit short. That’s how it seemed to us too at first, but after a while of riding we got used to it and it didn’t bother us at all.

The advantage is that it fits just fine even in a smaller elevator if you want to keep it in your apartment, or in the trunk of a car.

The mentioned foot deck offers foot space sized 44 x 21 cm, and at the rear part there’s also a footrest for one leg, where you can brace yourself. It’s a shame the deck isn’t fully rubberized, but it does have fairly thick edges (4 cm) with only matte metal on them.

From the sides under the chassis, you can spot orange reflectors along with red rear lights in the corners. The rear brake light is also on the fender. Up front, a white light is included, but it’s rather dim. It turns on when you press the power button to turn the scooter on/off.

Maximum power up to 2000 W

Let’s get to the most interesting part—the power itself. The JOYOR S10-S has two motors, and each one delivers 1000 W. The total 2000 W is really solid, so you can look forward to a lively, fun ride.

Once you turn the scooter on, you’re always in S-drive mode, which means only one motor is active. Even in this mode the performance is very good, but once you switch to D-drive, where both motors are active, you can feel a clear difference.

In dual mode, the JOYOR S10-S has great acceleration and the ride is truly fun—and we enjoyed it every time. You can choose from 3 modes with maximum speeds of 20, 35, and 65 km/h. Besides different top speeds, each mode also changes acceleration. In the highest mode it’s already quite aggressive, so if you’re not used to a stronger scooter, we recommend easing into it carefully.

According to the manufacturer, the scooter should handle a 30° incline, so we went to the steepest hill we have nearby. While many weaker scooters can’t make it up, the JOYOR S10-S handled it with ease, reaching 40 km/h in dual mode.

Suspension, wheels, and brakes of the JOYOR S10-S e-scooter

The JOYOR S10-S features front and rear suspension using so-called TPU parts, which complete the scooter’s design. The suspension is rather firm, but not too stiff—so it works well.

The wheels are 10″, inflatable, and as we mentioned in the introduction, the manufacturer includes an extra inner tube as well. They’re quite thick, which also contributes to a more comfortable ride. Tire size is 80/65 – 6.

Brakes here are disc, hydraulic brakes from the well-known ZOOM brand, which this scooter absolutely needs given its power. Their performance is very good, and we highly appreciate that.

Battery and range on a single charge

The JOYOR S10-S electric scooter is equipped with a 60 V system and an 18 Ah battery. The manufacturer states a maximum range of 70 – 85 km, but we don’t know which mode and at what speed they measured such a range. Of course, as is typical, it’s probably the range you get in one of the weaker modes and at a low speed.

We verified the range during a test ride, when we turned on activity tracking in the smartphone via the Runkeeper app. We rode in Košice and the surrounding villages, and we didn’t skip the hills either. The rider weighed about 78 kg and we used the highest mode with dual drive. Since most of the route was between villages, we often rode at speeds of 50 – 60 km/h.

So, on a single charge we covered 35.81 km, which is definitely not bad for this kind of high-speed riding style. Of course, the range changes depending on how you ride, but you should manage at least 30 km even with aggressive and fast riding.

One of the few downsides of this scooter is probably charging. With the included charger, it takes a seemingly endless 11 hours. Personally, we charged mostly during the night. The charging connector is located at the top part of the deck under the chassis, and it has a screw-on nut for better mounting.

Folding and carrying

It also lets you fold the handlebars together with their stem, which makes carrying the scooter easier. The manufacturer used no less than two safety latches. The first is the folding latch, which prevents unwanted movement by the locking lever.

The second is the lever itself—by using it, we release the joint and the scooter can be easily folded down toward the rear fender. In this position, the latch clicks into place, so you can carry the scooter in the folded state.

JOYOR S10-S: Final evaluation

The electric scooter JOYOR S10-S really pleasantly surprised us, and we completely understand why it became a bestseller this summer. For a very attractive price just above the 800 EUR mark, it offers 2000 W of power and a maximum speed of 65 km/h.

The scooter has a solid, high-quality build that doesn’t creak, with good suspension and brakes, and riding it has always been a pleasure for us. Thanks to its compact dimensions and high performance, it’s very agile, comfortable, and nippy, with exceptionally good acceleration. It also handles hills really well.

You’ll love the 60 V system with an 18 Ah battery—on a single charge, we covered about 35 km with fast riding in the highest mode. We definitely recommend the JOYOR S10-S to everyone looking for a powerful yet compact e-scooter.
