We ordered a new, ultra-powerful OnePlus 13 from China, and we’re bringing you the full review for the first time in Slovakia and the Czech Republic. Even just looking at the specs list is enough to impress. In the spotlight Snapdragon 8 Elite, a Quad HD+ display with minimal bezels, an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint reader, 24 GB RAM / 1 TB storage, and a 6000 mAh battery with 100 W charging. That sounds almost too good not to try it. Is everything really that great in practice too? You’ll find out in our OnePlus 13 review.

Where to buy it?

The new OnePlus 13 is already on sale and is currently available with a discount coupon from our reliable partner Gshopper. It’s available from the Chinese warehouse with free delivery in 9–16 days. In the promo deal, you’ll also get original cases tailored to your choice.

Notice: It’s important to note that this is the Chinese version of the smartphone, where the seller fully reinstalls the system to the global OxygenOS version, where everything works for Europe, including Google services, banking apps, and everything else you’re used to. Package contents

A big red box with a prominent “13” number really has a rich contents—something we’ve gotten used to missing with many global brands. OnePlus doesn’t disappoint here and includes a 100 W charging adapter in the package, along with the classic red cable. It has USB-C and USB-A connectors.

OnePlus 13

Since we ordered the Chinese variant, the adapter has a Chinese plug. However, the seller also includes a simple plug adapter. We’re also glad to see a case in the color of the smartphone. It truly fits perfectly and doesn’t fully cover its nice design. We’re always very happy to have the factory-applied protective film. Right from the start, it protects the phone’s display from scratches.

Chinese version: Can I install OxygenOS?

A package that reinstalls the Chinese version of ColorOS to OxygenOS was released a few days ago, the one known from global models. We tested the phone with Chinese software for the vast majority of the time, and everything worked very well even on it. Some parts of the system were in Chinese, while the rest was in English. Google Play, along with Google Services, was installed by the seller itself, so we didn’t have any extra work with that. However, currently Gshopper sells the preinstalled version with the global Oxygen OS system, so the seller takes care of everything.

We were pleased that notifications came through on time and there was no issue with them. The same goes for NFC payments via Google Wallet. Of course, there was also no problem with connecting to the mobile network, and we’ll go as far as saying that OnePlus 13 can be used with a Chinese ColorOS ROM as well. We only ran into one issue — OTA updates (ColorOS ROM) wouldn’t work. We don’t know why, and we weren’t able to fix it (after downloading, an error message popped up saying to try again).

OnePlus 13
Chinese across the system (services primarily meant only for China, like this search)

Finally, according to this guide, we installed a beta version of the system with the global OxygenOS overlay and we’ve noticed that the user interface is extremely similar. A stable firmware will be available later. Here you’ll find preinstalled Google services and all the well-known Google apps—of course, you also get Slovak and the traditional setup you know from any Android smartphone shipped with Google Services.

OnePlus 13 China - OxygenOS Global

There’s also a tool for transferring data from an old device. We observe that most of the important features from the settings are still present, and there are no preinstalled Chinese apps here anymore. This Chinese phone supports the B20 LTE band and also the most modern mobile networks, 5G. With the OxygenOS ROM, it was necessary to flash additional files to get the mobile network working. However, we’d call the process straightforward—and if you don’t make any mistakes during it, you can handle it. You just need average computer experience, or at least know the most basic principles of using adb and fastboot.

Design

We were excited by the design almost immediately. We simply love smartphones that have the so-called eco-leather back. There are also other color options (black and white) if you happen not to like this one. In our opinion, this blue version is the prettiest. The OnePlus 13 feels extremely premium in your hand. Despite its size, it has an optimal weight and, surprisingly, is very comfortable to use. You can also thank the very thin frame around the display.

OnePlus 13

Its edges are slightly curved, but if you’re not a fan of curved displays, you don’t need to worry. It’s just a minimalist design element that has no impact on handling—we think it’s ideal. Although the sides are glossy, fingerprints are captured only minimally. On the right side, you’ll find the volume buttons and the power button. The left side hosts a three-position sound mode slider typical for this brand (loud, vibrating, silent).

On the bottom edge, there’s a USB-C connector, a slot for two nanoSIM cards, a microphone, and a speaker. The second speaker’s output for stereo sound is on the top edge, and it also has additional microphones, along with an infraport used to control home electronics.

The full-on “highlight” of the OnePlus 13 smartphone is its back, but the phone also looks great from the front. The silver design elements fit it very well, and although the circular camera module might seem big in photos, in reality it’s absolutely not a problem.

Dimensions: 162.9 x 76.5 x 8.5 millimeters

Weight: 210 grams

We have experience with smartphones from other Chinese brands, whose camera modules with sensors are significantly larger and protrude more from the phone body. Around each individual lens, there’s an interesting, notched texture – a nice detail that you wouldn’t notice at first glance. Finally, we’ll mention that the design of this model is resistant to dust and to being submerged in water / strong jets of water, depending on the certification IP68/IP69.

Display and speakers

In terms of display quality, it very clearly reminds us of the OPPO Find X7 Ultra we tested in spring. Looking at the paper specs only confirms it – they are practically the same. OnePlus 13 offers a large 6.82-inch diagonal, Quad HD+ resolution (1440 x 3168 px), which you can reduce in software to Full HD+ to save power (default setting). This LTPO AMOLED display supports the display of 1 billion colors and a refresh rate up to 120 Hz. Animations are also extremely smooth thanks to it.

OnePlus 13

HDR10+ content on this display really looks impressive. The brightness value that you can reach manually is 800 – 1600 nits (HBM), which is very bright even in direct sunlight. On paper, the highest achievable local brightness goes up to 4500 nits. Color reproduction is top-notch, and we don’t even need to mention the quality of the viewing angles. The experience is enhanced by the vibration motor, which OnePlus has implemented very well. The vibrations can be felt across different parts of the system, and haptic feedback plays an important role in ColorOS / OxygenOS. The display hides an extremely fast and precise, ultrasonic fingerprint scanner. Unlocking happens in a fraction of a second.

OnePlus 13

The speakers are very loud. At the highest volume levels they don’t sound as good anymore – the bass is missing and spoken voice has a strange echo. At medium-high volume, the output is relatively high quality. You definitely won’t miss incoming calls or notifications. For example, you can watch YouTube videos or Instagram content even without headphones – the speakers are more than enough for this purpose.

Power

One of the strongest points of the OnePlus 13 is without a doubt performance. The Snapdragon 8 Elite is so far the best chip from Qualcomm to hit the market. It’s manufactured using the latest 3 nm process technology. Thanks to its extremely low power consumption, it can deliver enormous performance that simply has no competition in the current Android smartphone market. The result is that we’ve never had a faster smartphone in our hands before.

OnePlus 13

Its responsiveness is limited practically only by the level of optimization of individual apps. You can also count on gaming graphically demanding titles with maximum settings at high FPS, even with minimal heating of the phone. OnePlus 13 will impress even in benchmarks, where it sweeps practically every competitor off the table. It’s great that the manufacturer managed to turn this raw power into real-world performance.

In ColorOS, everything was as smooth as possible, and the freshly installed OxygenOS is no exception, even though it’s still in beta and includes minor bugs. There are versions with 12 GB, 16 GB or up to 24 GB of RAM. Internal storage reaches 256 GB, 512 GB, or in the best version 1 TB. In our case, we have the edition with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of internal storage.

There’s also SWAP available, but we doubt it’s even necessary unless you’re doing the most demanding activities on your smartphone, and even then—running several of them simultaneously in the background. Storage can’t be expanded with a microSD card, so choose the right configuration carefully to match your needs. In the benchmarks themselves, OnePlus 13 delivers impressive results. Just take a look for yourself.

In the AnTuTu Benchmark, we noticed a very radical increase in temperature as well as high power consumption. In real use, however, that didn’t happen. The stability score, in percentage terms, is better for devices with other chipsets—our Vivo X100 Ultra with a processor Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 scored 72.3 % stability in 3DMark using the Wild Life Extreme Stress test, while OnePlus 13 with Snapdragon 8 Elite has a significantly lower stability value of 50 %.

Ad

In benchmarks—demanding, longer tests—so the new chip throttles more due to heat, but its peak performance at normal temperatures is drastically higher.

Cameras

The smartphone’s photography setup of OnePlus 13 consists of a trio of 50 MPx cameras on the back. There’s a primary sensor with optical image stabilization, a triple periscope telephoto lens with optical stabilization as well, and an ultra-wide-angle lens with a 120-degree field of view. On the front, you’ll find a 32 MPx “selfie” camera. For a while now, OnePlus has also been working with Hasselblad, which brings color calibration and other improvements for the photos you capture. The results are very good.

OnePlus 13

The photos have a slightly higher color saturation, but it’s not overdone. We’re just a bit disappointed that the primary sensor used, Sony LYT-808, isn’t physically the largest (1/1.43″), so it captures less light. This shows up in the quality of night photos too, which require a longer exposure time—often resulting in a slightly blurry image. If you can keep the phone steady for the entire time, you’ll preserve more details and pull more information out of the shadows. The limitations are on the sensor side, which is a little small for flagship standards, and the gaps are covered by software processing. But if everything goes right, you’ll be happy with the result.

OnePlus 13

A very pleasant surprise is the ultra-wide-angle camera. Thanks to its high resolution, it can often capture really great shots. The photos are generally very detailed and contrasty. In the daytime, the telephoto lens can also stand out, but when zooming digitally, keep your hand steady. Shots taken in the shade tend to look a bit blurred and lose some detail. You’ll notice it best after manually zooming in on your computer screen. Among the competition that OnePlus 13 has, at night it’s slightly below average. Still, it handles strong street lighting very well. During the day, we’d place it in the average premium category, and the price doesn’t match that—it’s lower.

OnePlus 13

We also need to mention that, for the price—for example from a seller like Gshopper, from which we ordered the smartphone too—it’s one of the best camera phones you can get for your money. We’ll see how much it will sell for on our market, but the imported unit of course offers much better value. On the camera side, for our discounted price, it competes for example with the Google Pixel 9 series. OnePlus is an alternative for those who want powerful hardware and unmatched performance in a beautiful design.

Compared to the mentioned Pixel, it also has significantly longer battery life and faster charging. Video recordings at 4K/60fps, or 8K/30fps, are then a bit soft. The dynamic range isn’t the best, as you can see in the first clip from the mountains, where the sun-lit peaks literally glow along the outlines. Stabilization is effective, but we definitely like photos more than video. Most users will be perfectly fine with it, but it’s not an iPhone… The colors are more vivid, the contrast is lower, and fine details get a bit lost in less-than-ideal conditions.

Battery and charging

OnePlus 13 houses a large, modern 6000 mAh Si/C battery inside. That sounds absolutely amazing, but do records get broken in practice? In our opinion, no. Battery life is genuinely great; for many it will be almost excellent, but we’d compare it to the rest of the best, well-built flagship phones—coming primarily from China. On a single charge, you’ll always get a full day of battery life; typically it’s 1.5 days.

OnePlus 13

In our case, it could even be two days, but that was during periods with longer standby times when the phone was idle. Depending on how you use it, you can expect 7 – 9 hours SOT (Screen On Time). If you’re used to using your smartphone during the day for longer stretches, the reality will be 10 – 12 hours SOT, continuously. Gaming of course will be less.

After one hour of watching video on YouTube at medium brightness, the battery dropped by 6 %. As we already mentioned, battery life is very good; you probably can’t expect more from a smartphone. On the other hand, we also don’t think any records were broken. In the settings, you can see the current battery health and you can even set a charging limit to extend its long-term lifespan. We genuinely appreciate that. You’ll also find settings here for wireless charging, or fast wired charging.

After 10 minutes of charging with the original 100 W adapter you’ll find in the box, we were pleasantly surprised: instead of the original 1% battery indicator, it showed 42 %. At this stage, the phone was indeed receiving more than 80 W, while the maximum it can reach is 100 W. Later, of course, this performance naturally dropped a bit, but the result is more than satisfactory.

Výkonnostné režimy
Performance modes

We got a full charge in up to 35 minutes. So there really isn’t anything to worry about, and within just a few minutes on the charger, you’ll get battery life for several hours. For wireless charging fans, the maximum available power is 50 W. If you don’t want to keep charging your smartphone at that power all the time, you can turn the function off in settings – the battery section.

Operating system

The system version with the ColorOS overlay on the OnePlus 13 will get 4 major OS updates for Android, and a total of 5 years of security patch deliveries. We believe the same will apply to the global edition with OxygenOS. Right now, the smartphone has the latest Android 15. ColorOS has a lot in common with OxygenOS – we tested both interfaces.

The user experience is practically identical. There are plenty of smooth animations complemented by a pleasant haptic response that adds to the phone’s premium feel. Seriously, it can do a lot. If you like gesture control, you’ll be in your element with the OnePlus 13. There are many gestures available, including the option to control with so-called air gestures, and there are also gestures on the off screen, letting you perform quick actions without needing other interactions. Those were available on OnePlus brand models years ago too.

You can also choose themes to personalize the graphical interface. You can pick from a variety of wallpapers, including animated ones, font styles, app icons, and even display styles for the Always On screen. The software is well-tuned, and some of its elements remind us of iOS from iPhones.

Connectivity

OnePlus 13 definitely won’t disappoint when it comes to connectivity. The used chipset Snapdragon 8 Elite includes all modern technologies except for Bluetooth 6.0 – a slightly older, long-established standard Bluetooth 5.4 is available. Besides that, you can look forward to support for Wi-Fi 7, 5G, NFC and there’s also infraport, USB-C port in version 3.2, of course also with OTG support and globally used satellite navigation systems.

OnePlus 13

Signal reception from mobile carriers and GPS satellites is excellent, and in areas with weaker coverage, reception is above average compared to some other phones. Phone calls are very clear, and both sides will hear each other well and loudly. The Chinese ROM also offered call recording, but the global one uses the Google Phone app, which doesn’t allow it.

Intelligent switching of mobile data and dual Wi-Fi connection

OnePlus 13: Conclusion

OnePlus 13 is the one to buy if you’re looking for the most powerful smartphone on the market right now. Even though, for a few dozen euros, you can get a slightly better camera phone, this model definitely won’t disappoint and it delivers in that regard too. A great design and an even better display are among the biggest standout features of this device. It will impress you with performance, delight you with excellent battery life, and fast charging.

OnePlus 13

There are plenty of memory options to choose from, and you can configure the phone with an extreme amount of RAM and storage. Just look at 1 TB – some people won’t even use that on their computer, let alone on a smartphone. The operating system offers lots of handy extras, and it also comes with extended, 4-year support for the Android version and 5 years of security patch updates.

OnePlus 13

We definitely recommend buying OnePlus 13 from China, or from other European warehouses. The price/performance ratio is amazing even in this higher, premium category. OnePlus clearly put effort into its new flagship, and it really shows.

If our review convinced you to buy this smartphone, you can do it with our partner Gshopper.

Oneplus has had years of issues with incoming notifications. Apps like Gmail, WhatsApp, etc. don’t notify you of messages even for a few hours. Oneplus13 is no exception. Unnecessary money thrown away on such software.

That was an old problem with flashed global ROMs. We didn’t have that issue – we even mention it in the review.

Hi, and when will this phone finally be on sale in Slovakia in stores? I wrote to Planeo and the response was that they don’t have it in the near future for sale. Nay doesn’t have it either, and TPD said that when ordering they don’t know the delivery time…

Read the reviews on GSshoper and then press like!!! People there got China with Color OS, without EU language support. The phone has no updates, doesn’t support Android Auto, Google Pay, and it will never support e-sim. So what did you get out of it, I ask???? When I buy a phone, I want e-sim support, Android Auto, which works perfectly in my Passat B8 without a cable. I want Google Pay and mainly 5–7 years of updates. I know what I’m talking about!!! I had a 1+ 3, 7, and now I have a 10T, and it always lasts me 3+ years – even 6 years for the 7 Pro. The 7 Pro is still working and I still take it on trips as a spare phone, and I even still have a 9-year-old 3 at home… But I won’t buy some “China” version just so I can have an apparently non-working feature!!!
