Popular electric SUV Zeekr 7X, which, over two years on the market, has gained a foothold as a Chinese rival to the Tesla Model Y, is gearing up for another update. Fresh homologation documents from China confirm that the 2027 model will get a new powertrain and a new battery — exactly as the manufacturer itself hinted a few days ago. By the way, this model can be bought here as well.
What the homologation revealed: 496 hp and a new LFP battery
According to the website CarNewsChina, the Chinese industry ministry (MIIT) has approved a new LFP version of the Zeekr 7X with a rear motor rated at 370 kW (496 hp) — the same output as the current rear-wheel-drive version. The dimensions remain unchanged (length: 4,825 mm, wheelbase: 2,925 mm), and the top speed is listed at 240 km/h.
The documents also confirm several optional equipment items: four-piston front brake calipers, three wheel sizes (19″, 20″ and 21″), a two-tone roof, a roof rack, various rear door variants, and body badges. The exact battery capacity is not specified in this type of document — we know it from earlier statements by the manufacturer.

A million-kilometer battery will fill the gap in the lineup
According to an earlier announcement from Zeekr, the 2027 model will get a new 85 kWh LFP battery called “Aegis Golden Brick”, developed by the parent Geely group using the short “blade” cells. The manufacturer claims a range of up to one million kilometers and 3,500 charging cycles, with good resistance to thermal runaway.
The new battery is meant to fill the gap between the existing versions — the entry 75 kWh (620 km CLTC) and the long-range 103 kWh (802 km CLTC). The expected range is over 700 km based on the Chinese CLTC cycle, which would put Zeekr on par with the competing Li Auto i6 (720 km thanks to an 87.3 kWh battery). Exact range and consumption figures have not been officially confirmed yet.

So far, the new Zeekr 85 kWh version’s exact range figure, consumption, and charging power have not been published — they should come closer to the fall launch.
On sale now, new version arrives in autumn
The current Zeekr 7X is sold in China for 229,800 to 269,800 yuan (roughly $34,200 to $40,150) and is doing really well — in July 2026, more than 6,400 customers bought it there, up 87% month-to-month, and in less than two years on the market the model has already racked up over 200,000 units produced. The updated version with a new battery is set to reach the Chinese market in Q4 2026; Zeekr hasn’t disclosed pricing or the exact date yet.

In the meantime, Zeekr is also tempting customers with the current generation — a September promotion runs from 1 to 30.9, and with a 5,000 yuan deposit (about $745), it offers an insurance contribution of 10,000 yuan (about $1,490) plus additional benefits depending on the equipment.
Zeekr 7X is already on sale here as well
Unlike many Chinese releases, this isn’t just a car that’s still theoretical for us — you can buy the Zeekr 7X in Slovakia today through the importer EV STORE, with prices from roughly €54,800 for the base Core RWD version up to €68,300 for the powerful Privilege AWD. The European version differs from the Chinese one in the details (different dimensions and batteries), but it offers a range of up to 615 km according to WLTP, and thanks to its 800V architecture it can charge from 10% to 80% in about 13 minutes.
The new 85 kWh version from type approval is currently intended only for the Chinese market and will fill the gap between the existing variants — whether and when a similar update will also make it into the European lineup is still unclear. We’ll keep an eye on what Zeekr officially confirms closer to the autumn launch.
