ANGWATT C1 is an interesting electric e-scooter with very good performance up to 2400 W, a 52 V system, and a maximum speed of 65 km/h.

In the review, we’ll look at build quality, individual components, overall riding comfort, and we’ll also test the range on a single charge in the highest mode.

Packaging contents & quality

The ANGWATT C1 electric e-scooter was delivered to us by the SPS courier in a box measuring 131 x 26 x 50 cm and weighing about 38 kg. The box was already visibly reinforced with extra tape right away—probably by one of the shipping companies—and it was also damaged, all the way through.

However, the manufacturer protected the e-scooter with plenty of foam braces and nylon, so the scooter itself had no damage. At the same time, all accessories were secured to the e-scooter frame using nylon, so even a leaking box wasn’t a problem for us. Since the accessories weren’t floating around inside the box, nothing was missing.

As for what’s in the package, besides the e-scooter you’ll also find a pair of chargers, an instruction manual, and a multifunctional key for tightening screws and nuts.

So the e-scooter was protected in the box properly, but the box itself couldn’t handle shipping that well. It’s a shame the manufacturer didn’t use additional protection for the box, such as some kind of extra nylon or a second box.

Easy and quick assembly

Just like many other e-scooters, the ANGWATT C1 comes in a box in a folded state, with the steering column folded down. Assembly is clearly described in the instruction manual as well, along with illustrations.

We started by removing the protective and packaging material, then unfolded the main stem that leads to the handlebars. The handlebars are attached to it with a pair of screws, which is all you need to tighten.

Then all that’s left is to secure the front and rear indicators with nuts and tighten the individual elements on the handlebars—such as the brake levers, the display, and more. They’re only lightly tightened so everyone can adjust them according to their preferences.

Design and build quality

In looks, the ANGWATT C1 resembles the well-known strong e-scooters, just in a smaller body like the Laotie ES18 Lite. The entire construction is made of metal and feels quite robust, so it gives a quality impression.

On the top part of the foot platform, we find a material similar to sandpaper, thanks to which your feet don’t slip at all while riding. We also appreciate that the manufacturer protected this surface in the box with a glossy paper cover, since such material is very prone to any scratches or dirt.

The scooter’s design is defined mainly by the so-called “claw” suspension, which is also typical for many other Chinese scooters. You’ll like the height-adjustable and wide handlebars, or the fender with a brace—where we can grab the scooter when carrying it.

However, there are also drawbacks. The biggest of them is the mounting of the front module, on which the lights, horn, and turn signals are attached. The entire structure is held in place by a single screw, which is a very unfortunate solution. There’s simply too much for just one screw to secure firmly its position on the module mentioned above.

Handlebars and display

The handlebars of the ANGWATT C1 e-scooter are 64 cm wide and ergonomically bent, which works perfectly for us. You’ll also appreciate the ability to adjust the height—specifically in 3 positions—offering heights of 120 / 130 / 140 cm from the ground. The platform itself sits 28 cm above the ground.

On the left side of the handlebars, you’ll find the brake lever for the rear brake, the lights and turn signals control, the starter with a key, along with a display that shows the current battery voltage. On the right side, there’s the brake lever for the front brake, a display with the throttle control, and buttons for switching between Eco / Turbo and Single / Dual modes. In this case, the handlebars aren’t foldable, which increases their sturdiness.

The display with the throttle control isn’t anything new. The manufacturer went with the well-known TF-100 system, which we also know from other scooters, for example from the recently tested DUOTTS D88. It shows the current speed, the battery status in a graphical form, and the distance traveled since the last power-on.

You can switch this item by pressing the power button, when you alternate between the current distance, total distance, voltage, current, error messages, and riding time.

The grips are rubber and ergonomically shaped. They feel comfortable and secure, but unfortunately they rotate fairly easily on the handlebar stem.

Controls, power, and riding modes

The ANGWATT C1 comes with a pair of motors, each rated at 1200 W—so together the scooter offers 2400 W of power, which is definitely not little. It may not belong among the strongest, but it will still deliver a very decent dose of adrenaline during fast rides.

The scooter has 3 main modes marked with numbers, which differ in their maximum speed: 25 / 35 / 65 km/h. On top of that, there are options between Eco (max 25 km/h) and Turbo (max 65 km/h), or single-motor (Single) vs dual-motor (Dual) drive. These modes have different acceleration, and the differences between them are significant.

The maximum speed of 65 km/h can be reached on a fairly short stretch, and we think this level of performance is completely sufficient for everyday use. Even with the 2400 W scooter, you’ll enjoy an exciting ride—especially if you’re used to weaker machines.

On a longer straight section, the scooter’s display even showed a maximum speed of 73 km/h, though in reality it was around 67 – 68 km/h.

Tires and brakes

The ANGWATT C1 has 10″ wheels with a rugged tread pattern, and that’s the only option you get when purchasing. You can’t buy it with road tires. The tire size is 80/65 – 6, and each tire can handle a load of 85 kg at 50 PSI. Personally, we could also see larger wheels on this scooter—at least 11″.

We strongly recommend checking the tire pressure after purchase, before your first ride. Our tires had a very low pressure—only 16 and 20 PSI.

As for the brakes, they’re of course disc, hydraulic. The rotors are 140 mm in diameter, and the brakes are from DYISLAND. Their effectiveness is very good, which is important for a higher-power scooter. The brake levers are easy to squeeze thanks to the mineral oil in the brake system, and they also include a screw for adjusting pad pressure.

Suspension

Since the e-scooter is based on a well-known design with so-called “kangaroo” suspension, it isn’t really new. In this case, though, the suspension works surprisingly well and riding the e-scooter is very comfortable.

Plus, you can also slightly adjust the spring preload on the shock absorber using a nut/bolt (matrix) located above the spring. However, turning it is difficult because it doesn’t have a standard shape. With this kind of design, we recommend adding a steering damper—this way you’ll avoid so-called wobbling and the ride will be much safer.

Comfortable riding is also helped by the fairly wide tires, so in this respect we’re very happy with the scooter.

Battery, range, and charging

The new scooter from the ANGWATT brand runs on a 52 V system with a 28 Ah battery. The battery is already installed in the lower part under the deck where you stand.

The manufacturer states a range per charge of 60 – 80 km, depending on the mode. However, it doesn’t say under what conditions we should achieve such a range. Of course, we verified the range per charge ourselves. We rode in the highest mode in Košice and the surrounding villages.

We enjoyed the ride, so we often went at speeds over 50 km/h. The editor weighs about 78 kg, and on a single charge he managed to cover 45.37 km. We tracked the range using the Runkeeper app.

A great bonus from the manufacturer is a pair of chargers included in the package together with the scooter. Thanks to them, we can charge the battery much faster—specifically, in about 6 – 7 hours.

Lighting and turn signals

As we mentioned in the introduction, the ANGWATT C1 has well-known round lights that, at first glance, look like eyes. They’re bright and illuminate very far, but their light spread is weak, so they aren’t the best.

But what’s great are the turn signals. They’re not only at the back but also at the front. Unlike many other e-scooters, on this one, drivers coming from the opposite direction will be able to see the turn signal—not just the people behind you.

Assembling the scooter

You can easily fold the e-scooter, which means it takes up less space when storing. To fold it, you just need to release a pair of locks. The first one is located on the side near the folding joint, and the second one is above it.

As we wrote earlier, the handlebars aren’t foldable, so you can only slide them into the lowest position so they don’t get in the way too much. The scooter is fairly heavy, so handling it isn’t easy even when folded.

ANGWATT C1: Final assessment

During testing, we came to really like the electric scooter ANGWATT C1. It features a solid metal frame, 2400 W power, and runs on a 52 V system with a 28 Ah battery. According to its speedometer, we reached a maximum speed of up to 73 km/h, though in reality it was about 6–7 km/h less.

To the great performance is added also excellent suspension that works exceptionally well. Riding this scooter is very comfortable. You’ll also appreciate the range on a single charge, which in our case was around 45 km.

The biggest downside, in our view, is the pointless mounting of the front lights together with the horn and the front turn signals, since all these components are held by a metal structure attached to the scooter frame with a single screw. During riding, it rattles and shakes.
