Smart rings are increasingly showing up as an alternative to watches or bracelets. They’re discreet, stylish, and promise convenient tracking of your body functions and sports activities. Colmi R10 is, meanwhile, one of the very cheapest you can buy right now. Is it worth it, though? This is a review of the smart ring Colmi R10.

Where to buy the Colmi R10?

You can find the smart ring Colmi R10 on AliExpress from a verified seller. It’s stocked in China, but delivery is very fast—typically around 6 to 15 business days—and there are no extra fees. Don’t forget to choose the right size based on the information below and also use the coupon from the price box.

TIP15-day delivery via Aliexpress Standard Shipping

For this product, AliExpress Standard Shipping is available with guaranteed delivery within 15 days. This is the most reliable shipping method and in most cases it’s delivered by a courier company. 15-day delivery we’ve tested it for real.

When you order from a Chinese warehouse, AliExpress adds a customs fee to your cart of about €3,70 per order. When you receive the package, you don’t pay anything extra.

Are you shopping on AliExpress for the first time?

The process is via the AliExpress mobile app, where most people shop. There are two key things: don’t use Buy now and enter the coupon only in the order summary, in the field Promo code. After you click Pay now, you won’t be able to add it.

  1. Copy the code and click Use discountIn our article, copy the coupon and click the button GET DISCOUNT. The link will take you directly to the product in the AliExpress app.
  2. Use Add to cart instead of Buy nowOn the product card, scroll down and tap Add to cart. Don’t use the Buy now button—you’ll skip the cart, and later you won’t have anywhere to enter the coupon. Before that, double-check the variant: the color, the version, and whether it ships from an EU warehouse.
  3. Through the cart, go to CheckoutA pop-up will appear: Added to cart! — tap Check it out in it. If it disappeared, open the cart with the icon at the bottom right. In the cart, check the product and quantity, then click the red Checkout. Only the items marked with the red ring will be applied.
  4. Enter your address and card, then look for Promo codeIn the order summary, first fill in the delivery address and payment card at the top. Below them there’s a line Promo code — expand it with the arrow on the right.
Riadok Promo code v zhrnutí objednávky v aplikácii AliExpress
Look for this line under the address and payment method.
  5. Paste the code and confirm ApplyIn the field Promo code paste the copied code and click the black Apply. The code is case-sensitive and must not contain spaces.
Políčko Promo code s kódom a tlačidlom Apply v aplikácii AliExpress
Paste the code into the field and confirm with the Apply button.
  6. Check the savings and payIn the Summary expand the line Saved — you’ll see the applied coupon there as AliExpress coupons/codes. Only when Total is really lower, click Pay now.
Riadok Saved s uplatneným kupónom a znížený Total v aplikácii AliExpress
The applied coupon will appear in the Saved line and will reduce the Total.
Apply the discount already at the order summary. After you click Pay now, you can no longer add a coupon. If Apply shows an error, the code has either expired, doesn’t apply to your items, or the order doesn’t meet the minimum amount.
The Store Coupon also goes in the same field. — a coupon from the seller itself, which isn’t always available and changes from day to day. AliExpress coupons can’t be combined, so try both and go with the one that gives you more. Coins are added automatically.

Design and workmanship

We pretty much liked the Colmi R10 right away. It looked appealing even in the product photos on the shop, and the promised design turned out to match reality. It looks almost identical to the images, which is a big plus. In the middle there’s a sparkly strip that, in the black version we tested, looks rather decent. There are also silver and gold variants—those are noticeably more shiny. The black model is especially suitable for men.

Colmi R10

The edges are glossy and smooth, while the middle strip is a bit rougher. When you scratch it with your fingernail, you’ll leave light scratches that can be wiped off. While wearing it, it didn’t bother us, but the computer mouse was harder to grip when the ring was on the right hand. You’ll need to estimate the size before ordering—your seller provides a guide, and that’s what we used too. Still, the ring (in our case, size 9) is slightly bigger than what we measured and expected.

Colmi R10

Instead of the ring finger on your left hand, it fits the index finger, so we don’t see it as a disaster. With regular use, the ring gets scratched a bit—silver wear marks are visible at the edges and are permanent. That’s why we recommend wearing the silicone protective ring at least when doing sports activities. The manufacturer includes it in the package—there are three pieces, each with a different shade of gray.

Colmi R10

The inside of the ring houses all the necessary sensors and components, including the magnetic charging pin. Charging takes place in the included small glossy-plastic case, which looks cheap and definitely doesn’t feel premium in your hand. The ring, however, feels premium. Friends of ours guessed that it really has high prices, comparable to a much more expensive competitor.

Colmi R10

For the most accurate measurements, we recommend wearing our own-tested Colmi R10 smart ring on your index finger. If you prefer other fingers, the middle or ring finger also work. Avoid a finger that’s narrower around the knuckle area—such rings can cause inaccuracies in the readings. The ring shouldn’t be loose on your finger.

Before buying, measure your finger circumference carefully. Use a thinner piece of string or a paper strip that wraps firmly around your finger—not too tight. Measuring tools that are too wide may lead to an incorrect size. Measure based on the part of the finger where the ring will normally sit.

Measurement accuracy

The features of this smart ring are practically dependent only on the sensors and the measurements derived from them. We were slightly disappointed here, but naturally we expected inaccuracies at this price. The step counter used to deliver more accurate results.

Colmi R10

Across our tests, we compared the results with the far more expensive Apple Watch Ultra, which we’ll consider the more accurate reference (even though they’re sometimes inaccurate too). When monitoring walking, the number of steps was almost identical across these devices.

If steps were counted without activity tracking turned on, the deviation was around 1000 steps. Oddly enough, it doesn’t matter whether we did 4000 or 25000 steps that day – the deviation still hovered around a constant 1000. But considering the low price of Colmi R10, that’s not so bad, right? With a lower number of steps, though, it’s a bit worse.

Colmi R10

Burned-calorie counting also looked fine at first glance. The ring can track your (approximate) heart rate, height, and weight, so the results should match, and Apple Watch reported similar numbers throughout the day. However, during training sessions, sometimes heart-rate tracking drops out on the ring—probably due to poorer placement on the finger. Then the calculated calories burned differ quite a lot. You can see the details in the attached screenshots.

The biggest problem is sleep tracking. We’re happy that this function is included, but it’s very inaccurate. The ring often registered us as “awake” only when we opened the app on the smartphone in the morning. The ring typically reported we’d slept much longer than we actually did. What’s interesting is that sleep stages are tracked too, but they basically don’t match when you compare them with Apple Watch. It didn’t even register some of our awakenings during the night. Worth noting: there’s also SpO2 measurement available.

Colmi R10

The measured values ranged from 96 – 99 %, with most of the time reported as 98 – 99 %. That could theoretically be correct. Tracking the stress level is then debatable across all wearable devices. According to Colmi R10, we were constantly at roughly 35 out of 100 for stress, and in the evening the stress level would sometimes rise depending on the algorithms used—which, for us, wasn’t true. This gadget can also measure heart-rate variability if you happen to be interested in that data.

Heart-rate monitoring during sleep is completely off reality. The reported heart rate is higher than it actually is. Typically at night we have a heart rate below 50 bpm, but the ring didn’t pick up that information. During workouts it’s better, but the moments when the heart rate was highest for a short time—for example during strength training—simply weren’t recorded.

So if you work out intensely with explosive bursts, you won’t get an accurate picture. Tracking statistics while walking outside or on a treadmill is already closer to reality. We noticed deviations in all aspects during a 7-hour hike. Tracking even turned itself off after about 5 hours. Unfortunately, we don’t know the reason why it happened, and it really annoyed us. Also, the battery didn’t run out.

Battery life and the QRing app

When it comes to the battery, that’s a nice trump card. Power consumption is really minimal. If we turned on all the possible health-measurement features during the day – as shown in the screenshot below – we got 7 days of battery life. There’s hourly SpO2 measurement, half-hour stress level tracking, heart rate variability monitoring once per hour, and body temperature measurement every 30 minutes.

If you leave them turned off, you’ll extend battery life by 3 more days. Of course, battery life will vary depending on how you use it; it could be 1-2 days more or less. It mainly depends on how often you track your activity.

Colmi R10

During testing, when we monitored sports activity throughout the day for about 2.5 – 3 hours, we saw battery life in the range of 6 – 7 days. A full charge of the smart ring Colmi R10 will then take place within an hour, and we also appreciate the practical magnet that lets the device attach in the case in the optimal position. When the ring is charging, it will glow red, and once fully charged it will turn green. The case has its own battery, so it doesn’t need to be constantly connected to a power source. If the ring battery is low, the app itself will notify you.

As for the app, right at the start we’d point out its name. While the ring carries the Colmi R10 label, the app is available on the Play Store under the name QRing. The app named Colmi recognizes only the brand’s own smartwatches – yes, we got tricked as well. So before setup, read the included user manual, or scan the QR code that will send you straight to the correct app. Pairing via Bluetooth is then surprisingly fast and easy – anyone should manage it.

We noticed that communication between the QRing app and the ring is a bit slower. Data synchronization feels a little sluggish, but for that price we won’t complain. Once everything loads after a few seconds, you’ll see a nice overview of the stats measured by the ring. It could definitely have been more clearly laid out, but after a few days we got used to it, and you’ll probably be able to customize it too.

Colmi R10

In the status bar, the number of steps walked is continuously shown in the default settings. You can, of course, turn it off, but we left it on so we could tell whether the app is really running in the background. The app’s bottom bar offers Home, Activity, Sleep, and Me cards. The app also has a feature to locate the ring by lighting up its sensors. It may not always be efficient, but it’s probably the only way to implement such a convenience.

Sports activity monitoring

If you want to turn on sports activity tracking, you need to open the app on your phone and tap the GO button on the relevant activity monitoring card. Then you’ll see a menu of exercises and activities you can track. There are a lot of them, and we feel the icons showing individual sports are “borrowed” right from the Apple Watch system.

Colmi R10

You’ll find pretty much everything here, but the one thing that bothers us is their completely random, unorganized arrangement. Popular options aren’t at the top, and it’s not alphabetically arranged either, so you’ll have to scroll for a long time and look for what you’re trying to do right now.

Colmi R10

We compared our physical activity with Apple Watch, which we consider to be more accurate due to their high price, even though they also show some deviations (as we already mentioned above). However, Colmi R10 showed variable results that are acceptable for non-demanding users. As you can see in the screenshots below, sometimes some of the data is missing too, so you can’t rely on tracking consistency completely.

Colmi R10

Heart rate monitoring isn’t the most accurate, and although individual exercise zones are recorded, it won’t be very precise. Compared to the watches, however, the calculation of active calories burned is relatively accurate.

Colmi R10: Final assessment

Colmi R10 is an interesting and affordable entry into the world of smart rings. For a few euros, you get a functional gadget for your collection that looks good, feels comfortable to wear (as long as you get the size right), and can handle the most basic tracking of steps, heart rate, and blood oxygenation. Just count on some deviations. Treat the other features as a less precise bonus for getting an approximate view of your physical performance.

Colmi R10

If you’re looking for accuracy in sports, sleep, or even heart rate, you’ll have to invest in something else. A much more accurate option would be the tried-and-true Xiaomi Smart Band, which is usually only a few euros more expensive. In our view, it’s a good and cheap experiment for curious people who want to try a smart ring without spending hundreds of euros. But if you’re a perfectionist, be ready for trade-offs and don’t expect miracles.
