From DUOTTS we’ve already tested a strong electric e-scooter D88 or even a mountain bike with the C29 model designation. For the third time, we have another bike here, but from a different category. This is an off-road fat bike with dual motors, DUOTTS S26.
In the review, as usual, we’ll first look at the build quality and what’s in the box, but we won’t skip our favorite range test on a single charge. With this model, we’re especially curious how it performs, since on paper it excels in several areas.

Packaging contents & quality
The electric fat bike DUOTTS S26 was delivered by an SPS courier in a box measuring 148 x 29 x 77 cm, with a total weight of almost 50 kg. However, the box contains a pair of grab handles, so two people can carry it without any problems.
Inside, the bike is packaged in a partially disassembled state—without the handlebars, the front wheel, and other components, of which there are quite a lot. Everything is well protected with various foam protective inserts and secured with zip ties so nothing gets damaged during transport. In this case, the battery is also wrapped separately and isn’t placed in the frame.
But removing the packaging materials takes quite a bit of time. In addition to the basic components, you’ll also find two gifts in the box. They’re a smaller hand pump and a smartphone holder.
Set aside more time for assembly
After successfully unpacking all the components and removing the protective braces, we got started assembling the bike. It’s manageable even for a single person, but count on longer setup time since there are quite a lot of parts you need to secure.
We started the usual way—with the stem and attaching the handlebars. But in this case, the stem is oriented toward the inside of the frame, so first we had to loosen the pair of side screws in order to straighten it out.
Then we opened the stem by unscrewing four screws, where we inserted the handlebars. That’s when we noticed that we were missing one small screw that holds the display on the handlebars. Unfortunately, we couldn’t find it anywhere in the box.
The second step led to installing the seat. It has an exceptionally long seat post, so it will fit even taller riders. Next, we attached the front wheel, which this time also includes the motor—so besides tightening the nuts, you also need to connect the cable and secure it so it won’t get in the way while riding. The manufacturer includes a few zip ties.
Next, we installed the pedals and the front light. Then we continued with the rear rack, which isn’t a mandatory feature, but it does come with a rear light that we would otherwise miss. Don’t forget to connect and secure the cable to the light here as well.
In the box you’ll also find fenders, but we skipped installing them since we weren’t planning to ride in wet terrain. After that, we secured the orange reflectors into the wheel spokes and inserted the battery into the frame.
Design and build quality
From a design perspective, the DUOTTS S26 looks quite good. The frame combines black with red—an always-safe choice. But at first glance, the bike looks somehow crowded and bulky, which isn’t helped by the battery either: it’s large and not at all recessed into the frame.
It also doesn’t help that the total weight is as high as 42 kg, which places the bike among the heaviest bicycles we’ve ever tested. The weight is increased by the second motor and the large battery.
Unlike the DUOTTS C29 mountain bike, where we criticized the unattractive plastic box for the controller at the bottom of the frame, the new DUOTTS S26 doesn’t have it. The controller is stored in a cover around the bike’s bottom bracket area, which at first glance gives the impression that the motor is mounted there.
The frame is otherwise made from an aluminum alloy, and its quality is standard. Still, we’d like some components to be better quality, but we’ll talk about those in the following chapters.
Wide handlebars and the bike’s geometry
The DUOTTS S26 has a fully suspended frame with a very nice geometry that should suit even taller riders. The bike’s total length is 195 cm, and we can adjust the seat height to 87 – 103 cm above the ground. You can also find detailed dimensions of the entire frame in the picture below.
You’ll also be pleased with the generous handlebars, with a total width of 71 cm. They’re positioned at about 110 cm from the ground.
On the left side of the handlebars, you’ll find the front brake lever for the front brake and a pair of control elements with buttons. On the first one, there’s a light controller, a motor switch, and a horn. The second controller has buttons for switching between modes “+” and “-”, along with a button to turn the power on and off.
In the middle section, there’s a large, clear LCD display where you’ll also find a foil with a QR code—since the bike even has Bluetooth and you can add it to a smartphone app. The display graphics are simple and easy to read.
On the right side of the handlebars, there’s an unattractive plastic piece with a USB-A port, allowing you to top up your smartphone while riding. Next, there’s the rear brake lever and Shimano shifting, which really spoils the overall impression of the bike. We don’t understand why the manufacturer chose this completely basic and, above all, outdated model.
The manufacturer also includes a throttle controller—so-called half-twist grip—which we mounted directly onto the handlebars right away during assembly. The original grip doesn’t come off the handlebars very easily, and we struggled a bit with it, but anyone can handle it for sure.
Motor, speed unlocking, and riding modes
The electric fat bike DUOTTS S26 stands out thanks to its pair of motors, each offering 750 W power. As mentioned in the introduction, both motors are housed in the wheels, and the controller is located around the bike’s bottom bracket area.
You get 5 assist modes, and there’s also a zero mode that allows you to ride the bike without the electric drive. One thing to note is that pedaling with this bike is genuinely hard, mainly because of its high weight.
Modes 1 to 5 are stepped based on the maximum speed, and the bike accelerates immediately after you start pedaling. The maximum speed is preset to 25 km/h.
In the hidden menu you can access by holding the “+” and “-” buttons, you’ll find a speed increase under the P08 option. It works a bit differently here than on other bikes. It’s not enough to set a number higher than 25—we need to set it exactly to 67 to unlock the speed.
After this step, the maximum speed increases to approximately 55 km/h, which is very decent. In Mode 1, once unlocked, the bike accelerates to 22 km/h; in the second mode it’s 30 km/h, in the third 38 km/h, in the fourth already 45 km/h, and in the highest mode you reach the mentioned 55 km/h.
Acceleration and overall performance
What surprises us, though, is the different behavior of the motors when pedaling and when adding throttle using the twist-grip. If we twist the pedals, the motors activate automatically and provide truly very solid pull. With single-motor drive, acceleration is of course noticeably weaker.
However, it’s strange that when we add throttle using the twist-grip, acceleration is much weaker—almost the same whether running on two motors or just one. To make matters worse, the maximum speed is also significantly lower when using this throttle controller. In this case, the top speed is somewhere around 43 km/h, while when pedaling the bike reaches 55 km/h without any problems.
The overall performance of this fatbike is very good, but on steep and long hills, of course, its weight makes it slow down more noticeably, even below 25 km/h.
An app that’s more or less pointless
As we already mentioned earlier, the bike has Bluetooth and lets you add it to the DUOTTS app on your smartphone. The app requires registration and sign-in, but adding the bike afterward is quite simple.
In the app, you can see a few basic details like the battery’s percentage level, which is however inaccurate and jumps around, the current speed, the riding mode with switching options, distance covered (odometer), time since turning on, and a couple of settings.
These include settings for speed units, cruise control, and start from zero. Other than these options, the app is pretty pointless, since even the battery percentage level isn’t shown correctly.
Battery and range on a single charge
Another big draw of the DUOTTS S26 bike is its 48 V / 20 Ah battery, which—according to the manufacturer—should use Samsung cells. A branded battery is a big plus, but unfortunately we can’t verify whether those truly are branded cells inside.
According to the manufacturer, in pure electric mode we should be able to achieve a range of 40 – 60 km. We mostly used the bike in the highest speed setting with dual drive turned on.
We started the ride in Košice and continued into the surrounding villages. At the beginning we rode more slowly, but as soon as we got out of the city, we accelerated to the maximum and spent most of the time maintaining top speed, or whatever speed the conditions allowed.
Finally, we also tried riding off-road, so we set off from the KVP housing estate in Košice, climbed up to Horný Bankov, and went through a meadow and a forest. Our ride ended with a longer descent, by which time even the last battery bar had disappeared, and the Strava app measured the route length at 39.49 km. We were only pedaling freely, and our editor weighs 75 kg.
The app was still showing 20%, but it was probably an incorrect reading, since it had been displaying that capacity for quite a long time. At this point we stopped tracking the ride, but even with the blinking battery symbol we still covered another 4.5 km before getting home. Overall, we rode 43.99 km, which is a very good result for a bike of this weight.
You can charge the battery separately or even on the bike. However, it takes 8 – 10 hours.
Suspension, wheels, and ride comfort
What would a fatbike be without big, wide tires. The DUOTTS S26 comes with tires sized 26 x 4″, inflated only to 20 PSI. They have a tread made for off-road riding and do an excellent job absorbing bumps.
Since it’s a full-suspension bike, in front you have a standard spring fork with a lock option, and at the rear you get a second shock absorber. It’s only a simple, basic model—don’t expect anything special.
Unfortunately, while riding we didn’t get the feeling that we were sitting on a fully-suspended bike. The front fork sometimes rattles and bangs, and on top of that the rear shock is too stiff. Light terrain like a nice forest or country path handles well, but when we hit a rocky road, or something bumpier, the bike really kicks us out.
Also, even the wide saddle wasn’t very comfortable for longer rides.
Disc hydraulic brakes and shifting
Since the suspension disappointed us, at least the brakes will please. They are hydraulic disc brakes with prominent red aluminum calipers. As for stopping power, it’s decent and even with this heavy bike we had no problem stopping in emergency situations. In this case, the disc has a 180 mm diameter.
We have 7 speeds with shifting from the popular Shimano brand. However, the shifting on the handlebars is only a very cheap, basic model, which we absolutely don’t understand. The manufacturer could have gone for at least Shimano Altus shifting, which costs just a few pennies and offers much better functionality and an overall better impression.
Since when riding fast we’re only turning the pedals idly, it would also be worth considering a second chainring, which would give us heavier gear ratios.
Lighting
Up front you’ll find a white light that’s bigger than usual. It definitely shines better than most Chinese e-bikes, but it could have a slightly wider beam. Still, you can ride comfortably with it even at night.
What pleased us more was the rear light—it’s quite wide and very easy to see. It’s a shame, though, that the manufacturer decided to mount it to the rear rack. Personally, we wouldn’t mount this rack at all if we had the option to move the light somewhere else.
DUOTTS S26: Final assessment
The electric fatbike DUOTTS S26 will definitely catch your eye right away with its massive frame and a large 20 Ah battery. By the way, the cells are supposed to be from Samsung, which is a big plus.
The bike features a drive with two 750 W motors. This setup provides a top speed of 55 km/h and a decent range even in pure electric mode. You’ll also appreciate the clear, easy-to-see display and quality hydraulic brakes.
The downside of such equipment is the high weight—up to 42 kg. There are also components where corners were cut, including especially cheap Shimano shifting and a less quality suspension.
