Active speakers and portable party boxes have made huge leaps forward in recent years. They’re no longer just plastic Bluetooth boxes, but full-fledged music tools that can sound great in your garden, at the cottage, for a smaller party, and even at an improvised karaoke night.

Tronsmart, a trusted brand with an excellent price/performance ratio, brings you a new model: the Halo 300. It promises up to 240 W of maximum power, 20 hours of battery life, inputs for a microphone, guitar, and XLR, an LED light show, wheels and a handle for moving it around—and, most importantly, great sound. In this review, we’ll explain how the speaker performs in practice.

Where to buy the Tronsmart Halo 300 speaker?

You can get the Tronsmart Halo 300 party speaker from Geekbuying, directly from the European warehouse with fast delivery within a week—of course, after it ships from the warehouse.

In terms of both specs and design, it’s very similar to the popular JBL Partybox Stage 320, which is €161 more expensive. You can compare prices here.

Delivery and first impression: a big box, a small issue

The Halo 300 arrived without any problems, in a huge box as if it were a microwave or a smaller kitchen appliance. The whole product is seriously big, but well protected. There was just a tiny spot on delivery: a light scratch on one side, probably caused by shipping—but it had no impact on functionality. In the box, besides the speaker itself, you’ll also find a power cable, an AUX cable, and the manual.

The first thing you notice is the massive build with a sturdy handle and wheels. It moves like a smaller suitcase—you pull it out, tilt it, and go. A design idea that everyone appreciates who has ever carried a 10 kg speaker to a get-together by hand. Visually, it’s a classic “black brick” with RGB LEDs that shine brilliantly at night and sync with the music.

Sound that fills the whole yard

The Tronsmart Halo 300 uses a 2.2-channel system configuration—two tweeters, two mid drivers, and two woofers. The manufacturer states a frequency range of 40 Hz – 20 kHz, which in practice translates into a very strong bass line—that’s deep, punchy, but not overdone. The highs are a bit less prominent, but overall the sound is very clean and “massive,” especially if you play at around 60% volume. You can find the sound and LED lighting quality test during the day in the video below.

And yes, it can play it properly—without any issues, we set it up for a garden BBQ for 30 people, where drum’n’bass was playing mainly. Tronsmart also worked in its own SoundPulse technology, designed to increase sound clarity and widen the perceived soundstage. The result is a 270° soundstage—kind of like “semi-spherical” room coverage. It works at least partially, especially outdoors, but don’t forget the speaker is front-facing.

Rich connectivity and device connection options

The biggest draw is the range of connection options. Besides classic Bluetooth 5.3, you’ll also find an AUX input, a USB port for playing music from a flash drive, a TF card slot, and even XLR, MIC, and Guitar inputs. With the speaker, you can even set up an improvised concert, karaoke, or a jam session. We didn’t test the guitar, and unfortunately we don’t have a microphone, but according to the manufacturer, these are fully functional inputs with minimal latency.

Bluetooth worked flawlessly, with a range of over 15 meters. Pairing is fast and stable. A plus is the ability to pair two Halo 300 speakers for stereo mode (TWS) — then it feels like the whole scene is playing, like at a festival.

LED lights, battery, and battery life

You can set the RGB LED effects via the Tronsmart mobile app, or switch between modes directly on the speaker. You can switch between modes or turn the lights completely off (which helps save battery). At night, the LEDs really stand out, and during the day you can barely see them — that’s a bit weaker, but acceptable given the price. Color transitions are smooth, and music synchronization is reliable, even if it’s not quite as elaborate as with JBL.

Battery life is another ace up your sleeve — a 27000 mAh battery (11.1V/9000mAh) can last up to 20 hours of playback at 50% volume with the lights turned off. Charging takes about 4 hours, which is fine considering the capacity. There’s also an automatic shut-off function after 30 minutes of inactivity. As a bonus, you can even charge your phone via the USB port — so it’s a power bank in a speaker? Why not.

Portability and durability

It weighs almost 11 kg, but the wheels and handle make the Halo 300 a great portable speaker. Take it to a get-together, barbecue, picnic, or an indoor party. It also has an IPX4 rating, so it can handle rain, water splashes, or even getting splashed with beer — just don’t try throwing it into a swimming pool. The dimensions are 36.4 × 40.6 × 75.3 cm, so it will fit in your car trunk without any issues. And thanks to its robust build, it feels tough even against minor bumps — although a scratch on delivery was still disappointing for us.

App and settings

With the Tronsmart app, you can control the lights, EQ profiles, volume, and playback. It’s also useful that you can change effects and save your own custom settings. It’s not high-end level, but it’s clear, functional, and easy to use. Plus, it includes sound effects like a horn, applause, or scratch that you can trigger to liven up the atmosphere.

Conclusion: A solid party machine that can also play “softer”

The Tronsmart Halo 300 pleasantly surprised us — whether it’s the sound, connectivity, or real battery life. Sure, it’s not high-end JBL or Bose, but for its price it offers an exceptional amount. It’s great not only for loud parties, but also for everyday listening in the garden, chilling with friends, or karaoke with kids.

I managed to buy it a week ago for 290€ including a gift (Element Mega Pro ) but I’m already dealing with the return. At volume levels around 20–40%, the basses fluctuate. It’s like it can’t decide whether the bass should be strong or weak. For me, it was disappointing even at that price … 🙁
